As part of the City of San Jose del Monte National Science High School's celebration of National Reading Month, students showcased creativity and acknowledged their skills through these educational activities and events.
Awards for Quick 2 Singles and Doubles, Spelling Bee, Best Reading Corner, TikTok Author, and Malikhaing Pagkukuwento winners were presented at the opening of the event, which was led by the Lexicon Club.
Cosplayers also ramped through the stage and portrayed their character for the Book Character Cosplay Activity. Representing Snow White from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Russell Tedra from 10 Mabini was declared as the champion in the cosplay competition. Sophia Marie Jaguio of 9 Sampaguita, which represents the Red Queen in Alice in Wonderland, comes in first runner-up, followed by Renee Marie Fabrea and Cyd Sebastian Nifatan of 10 Bonifacio, who plays Christian Daee and The Phantom from Phantom of the Opera. There was a tie for third runner-up between Alfred Paul Moreno of 11 Einstein, who played the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland, and Gabrielle Temblique of 8 Mangrove, who plays Cleopatra from Cleopatra: Last Queen of Egypt.
Learners showcased their remarkable talent through storytelling, but not only storytelling; they also showed their skills in reading. Cyrene Samaria Bautista of Grade 10 grabbed the victory, winning the activity in first place. Mitzi Belle Cruz of Grade 9 placed second, and Jhenna Mae San Agustin of Grade 12 placed third in the activity.
At the declamation, Yumira Cuรฑado from Grade 11 won first place. Second place was given to Myrrh Juliana Baltazar of Grade 9, and third place headed to Sophia Bianca Tayo of Grade 12.
Rei Anne Dela Cruz of Grade 10 Mabini has dominated the Quick 2 Singles and qualified as the fastest player. Also, Lorenzo Hannah Jean of 12 Pascal placed second, and Jakkie Depalac of 11 Newton placed third.
With a score of 693 points, Grade 9 Carnation clinched the Quick 2 Doubles and was recognized as the fastest player. Moreover, Grade 11 Newton won the second place with 673 points, and Grade 11 Dalton won the third place with 657 points.
In the spelling bee, Jarred Xander Patungan of 10 Rizal grabbed first place. Second place went to Zhymon Partible of 8 Narra, and third place went to Lincei Listangco of 10 Bonifacio.
Each section showed their embracing creativity through transforming a corner of a classroom into a full of magic and stories. Champions of each grade level are Grade 7 Gregorio Y. Zara, Grade 8 Narra, Grade 9 Orchids, Grade 10 Mabini, Grade 11 Newton, and Grade 12 Pascal.
Grade 9 Orchids triumphed over the TikTok author and took first place. Second place goes to Grade 12 Pascal, and third place goes to Grade 9 Carnation.
