The Ateneo de Manila University team of David Africa (4 BS Applied Mathematics) and Tobi Leung (2 BS Applied Mathematics) bested teams from Princeton, Sofia, and Tel Aviv University in the Grand Finals.

"This is David’s third appearance at the WUDC Grand Finals, and a first time for Toby, a sophomore. It is truly an impressive feat made by the two debaters!" said the Ateneo Debate Society.

G. Find meaning or sense of purpose with your work?

Kevin, this is really a big deal to me. And I’m grateful that I started my journey of self-awareness and knowing more about my personality.

Let me tell you frankly, if I will follow my Ego, my current job is way to that sense of purpose.

But if I will follow my Intuition and hear my soul, I am still searching for that sense of purpose. I’m an empath and I love to listen with people. I think I am just looking for a kind of job that I am free to express it and what I love.

5. How you Handle being Sensitive Personally?

I used to overthink before. Self-awareness and mindfulness, self-talk and positive affirmations. These are what I am working out in myself lately.

How about relationships? Thus people around your appreciate your sensitive trait?

I don’t think they really know me as a Sensitive Person. What they know is the happy and strong person I am projecting on the outside.

I am trying to share to my family and close friends particularly, some information’s I learned about HSP personality and even personally asking How I am as friend, son and as a person.

I want to understand myself better Kevin…

6. Strength and Weakness of Sensitive traits?

Strength?

I can relate more to Senior Citizens and to Mothers. I don’t know it’s like I have plenty mothers outside home…I am enjoying the love and care they have for me.

Weakness?

You can easily doubt yourself and being prone to depression. Overthinking and no filter as to the emotions I am absorbing from others.

a. How to help reduce the stigma of being a man with sensitive qualities?

I think by braving and acceptance of the personality type that I am into. Because with my small platform, I can be an image, example of an HSP and Empath man who is confident to show to others that this personality is just a unique bliss.

b. Your take of what MASCULINITY should represent moving forward?

Masculinity should not be limited with having a big body built, strong and deep voice, outdoor sports men.

A true Man is a Man who can accept his unique personality, embrace his core, and who can handle responsibilities as a son, brother, father, friend and a LEADER in a society.

Final message to the viewers:

Self-awareness and desire to know yourself in the inside and not just the outside factors are the key to have a meaningful life.
I don’t want myself to die and still watching Maalala Mo Kaya and my Mom would still have the same mindset that it’s sad and dramatic that I should have not watch it.

Kidding aside, Men should embrace their unique personality type and not only what is dictated by the society or by the family circle.
Understanding your uniqueness and your unique Purpose in Life, with the other 20% HSP in the universe, which only You Can materialize and Win.

A Purpose Driven Life

2006 when I first read the book. It echoes to my soul and the lessons really hit me hard. I was savouring every pages. I cried silently.

It was my comfort when I was reviewing for my CPA board exams and a small bible (no bible app then, or maybe i'm not aware). Many times I felt quitting, the pressure was just so high that I am fearful to fail.

But come 2020, I realized that my learnings was not really deep. I could not even answer 'Who Am I?' ...How about you? Can you honestly answer who you are?

On a light note, I am embracing my life and fears. I am learning baby steps and praying to answer the question not by a false mask but my soul that speaks. I want to learn more that our life is not our beliefs, religion, physical body, dreams, expectations, thoughts, feelings but we are the one who are apart from all these.

Who we are is more than all these false limits and mask. Each of us has intuitive hearts that can answer this question, its connecting from within. We are not defined by outside factors in our body, we go on the inside. The one who experiences all these and who witnesses all transformations happened in our life.

I hope I could share more and can relay in simplest way that my loved ones could relate and understand. I am not my career, I am not my ambition, I am not my face and my body, I am not my limited beliefs, but I am my Soul who apprciate Life from the inside.
