Friends, for my birthday this week (Tuesday, Nov. 21) I am asking you to support a project for which I am very passionate. Videotaped oral history interviews guarantees that the life stories of those we appreciate, and even love, can live well beyond their lifetime. I have filmed more than 500 oral history interviews over the years in an effort to capture interesting and unique life stories. My goal is to provide at least 10 of these oral history interviews for those who are unable to pay for this service. If only 1/3 of my Facebook friends would donate as little as $5 each, I can reach my goal. (If you can donate more, that would be greatly appreciated.) Friends. Right before I went in the hospital a couple of weeks ago, I had posted about my Oral History project where I am doing on-camera oral history interviews for individuals and families at an affordable cost (about $500 per finished hour). In addition to providing this service to those, I discovered there are some folks that would make a great oral history interview but didn't have the means to pay for it. Therefore, I created a GoFundMe campaign with the goal of raising $5,000 in order to provide 10 oral histories for those folks free of charge. When I posted it previously, I had a lot of positive comments, so, I would like to ask those folks who think this is a good idea and an important project (as I do) to help me reach my campaign goal. If even a portion of my friends on Facebook could contribute just $10 - $20 each, I could reach my goal. If you have the ability to contribute more than that, I would be grateful. Friends! As many of you know, I have spent my career as a documentary filmmaker and video producer. One of the things of which I am most proud is my work conducting oral history interviews. I have conducted more than 500 oral history interviews for various groups and now I have decided to offer this service to folks who would like to capture their stories or the stories of family members. It's an easy process and I am committed to making this affordable for those interested. Basically, I sit down with you, or your family member, and video a conversation to allow the person to tell me the stories of their life. This makes a great heirloom for families to cherish. And, with the holidays just around the corner, this will make a great Christmas present for family members. But in order to get it done in time for the holidays, we will need to schedule these fairly soon.
