MID-COUNTY RUN HONORS THE VETS TODAY | SAVE THE 22 | 22 A DAY is a national project aimed at shining the spotlight on the 22 vets a day who take their own lives. Its a national crisis and its only now getting widespread awareness. Well, it get awareness via men like THESE!

Active Air Force serviceman Tim Simoneaux and US Army soldier (82nd Airborne Division) Larry Padia took to the streets of mid county today. These men did a 22 MILE RUN to bring awareness for their brothers who have given up and draw attention to the needs of veterans all around our nation. Simoneaux told us, "we both lost friends to su***de and have each had to reconcile our own mental health. We are currently training for a marathon next month, and wanted to participate in the 22ADay movement by running 22 miles across mid county." HARD TO IMAGINE A MORE NOBLE ENDEAVOUR!

MARINE LEARNS MASK MANIA LESSON

BREAKING NEWS | MASK ARREST

45 year old Marine David Strickland learned a sobering lesson today (Friday) at the Cleveland Walmart.

Strickland was arrested for not wearing a mask while attempting to buy some Black Friday gifts for his son at the store.

The war veteran says he was charged with resisting arrest but contends he was only trying to explain something to authorities. He says when he entered the store he was asked to put on a mask and simply said he can't wear one. Later, he says, a Cleveland police officer came up from behind him to stop him, and later arrested him.

David Strickland is almost totally deaf after sustaining severe injuries in combat. The arresting officers reportedly linked his “resisting” with how Strickland was “talking loudly” during the confrontation.

He suffers from PTSD and told us he can’t wear masks because of his combat trauma. Its not immediately clear why he was not allowed an exemption (in accordance with the Governor's order) after explaining his disability.

The Cleveland police officer who arrested Strickland had left for the day at the time that 1813 called him, and we were told he would call us back tomorrow to comment.

Strickland has learned how sensitive our society has become over the issue of mask orders. And possibly how insensitive some can be to disabilities. He’s learned about risks involved in even simple acts like shopping. And he’s set to learn about the consequences of even simple confrontations. Strickland was released tonight on a $1,500 bond.
