Plot Summary The Guitar Player Returns:

Hometown hero Jim Lindsey makes a flashy return, but the town soon suspects he is not the big star he appears to be. After Andy investigates, he learns Jim cannot pay his bills. Furthermore, a collection agent shows up in Mayberry to repossess Jim's new Mercedes.

Andy takes matters into his own hands, calls in Bobby Fleet, and Bobby and Jim patch up their creative differences.

Barney Gets His Man was the 30th episode filmed and the 30th aired of The Andy Griffith Show. (S1.E30)

Plot Summary Barney Gets His Man:

Barney accidentally nabs bad-guy bank robber Eddie Brooke while issuing him a ticket for littering. Brooke tries to escape after spotting state troopers, but the troopers get their man. Before Brooke is carted off, he makes a point of promising revenge on the bumbling deputy responsible for his capture. Brooke manages to escape and is last seen making a beeline to Mayberry. Andy orchestrates Brooke's recapture, tricking Barney into firing his gun (directly at Andy), which induces Brooke to surrender.

We will also look at some information about actor Bob McQuain who plays Sgt. Johnson in "Barney Gets His Man."

We'll review some notes and "Odd Facts Known by Few" related to the episode Barney Gets His Man. He appeared three times in season one and another eleven times by the end of season three.

We'll play Mayberry trivia by Paul Mulik. This weeks topic: Horses.

Barney becomes suspicious of the odd habits of Sam, an unfamiliar farmer. Sam is acting strangely because his wife is about to give birth to their first child and he has nobody to help him. With the local doctor unavailable, Andy and Barney come to the rescue. Andy winds up not only delivering the child but also baby-sitting Barney.

You may be asking who's "little Miss Mayberry?" Well, on the Cruise to Mayberry 2023 our special guest was Joy Ellison and she played several characters on The Andy Griffith Show with one of them being "Mary Wiggins" who was Miss Mayberry Jr. Floyd sang to her in the Barber Shop at the end of "The Beauty Contest" episode (S1.E16). Joy also appeared as "Effie Muggins" in "Christmas Story" (S1.E11), "Mary Scobey" in "Andy Forecloses" (S1.E28), "Betsy" in "Opie's Most Unforgettable Character" (S7.E29), and "Iris" in "Opie's First Love" (S8.E1). Joy also appeared an uncredited background character in "Mayberry Goes Hollywood" (S1.E13) and went on to be on the TAGS spin-off series Gomer Pyle: U.S.M.C. as "Molly Peters" in the episode "Luv Finds Gomer Pyle" (S4.E20).

That's just of an example of her Mayberry connections as Joy has many additional professional credits as an actor and as dialect coach.

I was able to interview her during the Mayberry Cruise 2023 and hear her memories of her amazing career. This episode features much of that interview.

I believe that the audio version of this interview will be great to hear but if you choose to watch the video version, I'd added images of memories she mentions so I don't think you can go wrong with either.

I know you will enjoy this special interview.

The special Mayberry guest will be Dennis Rush who we've heard from right here on the podcast! The cruise sails out of New Orleans and travels to Cozumel and Progreso, Yucatan with 2 "Fun Days" at sea. Special musical guest is an amazing band, Cutter & Cash and Kentucky Grass. Several of the Mayberry tribute artist will be there, including "Floyd" (your host for Two Chairs No Waiting). It's gonna be BIG!

This episode will be shorter than usual as I know we all have busy schedules around Christmas.

I have a couple of special treats for you from my friend and fellow Mayberry fan, Russell Estes. Russell is a bestselling author and motivational speaker known for his Christian and inspirational books, which often incorporate Southern humor. His writing is a blend personal storytelling with inspirational themes and faith-based lessons. He often incorporates The Andy Griffith Show into his stories.

Russell has attended the Mayberry Comes to Scottsburg held in Scottsburg, Ind. Inspired by that event, he wrote a song called "A Mayberry Smile." He used artificial intelligence (AI) to both play the music and sing the lyrics he had written.

During the holidays, Russell caught the bug again and put pen to paper writing "A Mayberry Christmas." Again, using AI (because he says that "like ol' Barn, I'm a good guy...but I can't sing") he created a real treat for all of the Mayberry family.

This episode we'll be treated to both these wonderful creations by Russell. If you enjoy them, check out his books and page.

It's Christmas time once again here in Mayberry so it is time for the annual Christmas episode. The Andy Griffith Show had only one episode centered around any holiday and that holiday was Christmas. Fans have watched that episode time and again as Ben Weaver tries to get himself arrested so he can spend Christmas in jail with the Taylor's, the Muggins', and Miss Ellie. It always speaks to our hearts when we see Ben singing outside that courthouse cell window.

Since the podcast began, Two Chairs has tried to bring back that warm feeling as we go through Mayberry related memories of Christmas time. We also try to make a new memory or two in the process. We have a special guest back again this year from over in Dodge City. His name is Festus Haggen and he has a really good story to tell about Santa. There's a story called "The Fife Before Christmas" by my friend Rik Roberts who played "Barney" to my "Floyd" in the Mayberry Man movie and Mayberry Man series.

We have a favorite of mine by Charlie Monk called "Andy and Opie Christmas" that brings back memories of a small town Christmas that sure reminds me of Mayberry.

We hear from Elinor Donahue about recording "Away in a Manger" with Andy then we hear her sing just that. For a bit more Christmas music, I'll play my 2022 Mayberry Christmas card featuring images from Mayberry Man the Series. And, if you stick around till the end, we'll have Miss Ellie and Andy sing an encore of "Away in a Manger."

Ellie Saves a Female was the 27th episode filmed and the 27th aired of The Andy Griffith Show. (S1.E27)

Plot Summary Ellie Saves a Female:

Ellie, continuing her feminist pursuits, chooses to assist Francine Flint, the daughter of a local farmer, in gaining independence, despite her father's disapproval. Andy resolves the conflict by persuading Farmer Flint that a gentler approach, symbolized by the use of honey to attract bees, is more effective in achieving his goals, in this case, retaining his daughter's help on the farm.

We'll review some notes and "Odd Facts Known by Few" related to the episode Ellie Saves a Female.

Last week we played Round 1 of the Mayberry Days Trivia Championship 2024 where ever correct answer was worth 100 points. If if you didn't play last week, you may want to go back and play along because this week you bring your point total forward into round 2.

This episode we’ll play Round 2 and the "final question" of the Mayberry Days Trivia Championship 2024. Round 2 has nine questions with each being worth 200 points. Incorrect answers are worth negative 200 points. You'll need to keep up with your score so you can add your round 1 and round 2 point totals together.

The "Final Question" allows those with positive point totals to wager their points in an attempt to score the highest total.

The questions are hard so like last week, we'll play some fairly easy Mayberry trivia to build back up your confidence in your Mayberry knowledge.
