April 16, 2022, 14 y/o Dua Zehra disappeared after stepping out to throw the trash but never came back. Dua Zehra's father Syed Mehdi Ali Kazmi lodged a missing person complaint to the Police the same day.
On April 26, 2022, Dua Zehra who was believed to be a victim of kidnapping was found alive in Lahore and married to a 21 years old Zaheer Ahmed. She released a video in which Dua claims she is 18 years old and she left Karachi to travel to Lahore to marry Zaheer Ahmed(husband).
Here to mention, NADRA documents presented by Dua's father show she is 14 years old minor.
She was presented to Session Court in Lahore where Dua recorded the statement that
" I willingly made the journey from Karachi to Lahore. I am safe, my life is not in danger"
The Court allows her to live with her husband.
Dua filed a petition of harassment in Session Court in Lahore against her father Mehdi Ali Kazmi and cousin Zain-ul-Abideen. She accused her father of getting her married to cousin Zain-ul-Abideen without her own will.
The court accepted her petition. Police have been ordered to protect her.
On May 7, 2022, Dua Zehra's father Mehdi Ali pleaded to the Sindh High Court (SHC) for the recovery of his daughter.
May 8, 2022, SHC issued notices to husband Zaheer Ahmed, Home Department, IG Sindh, SSP East, and adjourned the hearing till May 19.
On May 19 2022, SHC shows anger over the failure to bring Dua to Court.
“State seems helpless in bringing back teenage girl to Karachi,” Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro observed.
“Police is holding press conferences but not taking practical steps,” the SHC judge remarked.
Meanwhile, the cleric who solemnized the nikkah of Dua Zehra was arrested from Lahore and found guilty.
On June 1, 2022, The Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered police to recover Dua Zehra and present the girl to SHC in one week.
On June 5, 2022, Karachi Police in a major operation along with Punjab Police have recovered Dua Zehra from Bahawalnagar and arrested the facilitator.
On June 6, 2022, SCH orders a medical examination to determine the age.
June 7, 2022, Dua Zehra has been an age of between 16 to 17 years,” report said According to Dua’s father, her age is 14 years, while Dua Zehra in her statement before the SHC said she is 18 years old.
Here to mention, the Dr who took the test has been suspended.
On June 8, the father challenged the age verification report in court and the judge rejected the father's plea.
“No evidence was found of the girl’s abduction,” the court ruled.
Allowing the girl to decide whether she wants to live with her parents or go with her husband. She chose to go with her husband.

On 23 June 2022, The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday wrapped up Dua Zehra case after father, Mehdi Kazmi, withdrew a petition filed in the apex court challenging the Sindh High Court (SHC’s) decision which had allowed Karachi teenage girl to decide her own fate, (ARY News reported)
