"It doesn't matter how often you need to restart the book. As long as you finish it." That is what I keep telling myself. Over the last year, I have rewritten and redesigned every aspect of this book to finish at least 6 epic novels by now. Sometimes I get mad at myself for never being satisfied with my work, but I dread the day I am. It would be like letting a loved one go.
That may be why I can't finish it because this is a story concocted through laughter while my father and I smoked a bowl and daydreamed about the future. At the time he was undergoing cancer treatment, I had no clue how short our future would be. I remember bringing my laptop to the hospital with me one day. I sat in his room and typed notes as he asked me questions about my ideas for the book.
I can still feel the sun beating TF out of my back as I sat in the window and shared my future dreams with him. Not only was he a great beta tester. He even got on board as the driver for a food truck my husband and I want to open.
We would travel, cook, and I would write. Then once my book became wildly popular and was adapted for film. Becoming instant millionaires. My whole family would rent an RV and drive cross country to visit my nieces and nephews in California, but first. He and I would take a trip in a 1950's silver Mercedes to upstate NY where his favorite motorcycle show was filmed. He was so excited. We were so excited.
That was four years ago. So much has changed. I have changed. Which is why my book keeps changing. Change is good. For me, change has been growth. Traumatic, grief-ridden, gut-wrenching, "INOWANNA be strong no more LORT!" Amen, I made it through! GROWTH!
So, if you've been faithfully traveling along this often grammatically incorrect and horribly written journey with me. I thank you and ask that you be patient with me. The first rewritten, redesigned 6 chapters will soon be released with artwork attached for purchase. This time I promise. I'm not rushing!
