Wheelchair & Accessible Walks Allestree Park and Golf Club, Derby

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlNORlLoSqc

I don't like to give bad reviews, but sadly, in this case, much improvement is needed.

This is a wonderful space with so much potential. Allestree Park also boasts an 18 hole golf course with clubhouse. However, the grounds for the general public, and especially those with mobility needs, fell short.

The carpark has no markings and is littered with potholes, which became our first challenge. As there were no designated bays, you could return to find the space you require, taken up by another parked car. During the walk, the surroundings change, which was lovely to see. However, we went quite a distance feeling comfortable in the electric chair only for the path to run out.

We took two walks here both with challenging terrain. The first we set off with the house behind us and followed the path clockwise keeping the golf course to our right. When we ran out of the path, we were too far into the walk to turn back, and I was forced to navigate a steep hill, and cut across the golf course, in fear of running out of battery if I turned back.

The second walk (shown in the video) took us again away from the house and around the lake anti-clockwise. The path changed so much, going from hard stanging, wide path to very narrow bumpy path very quickly. I did manage this in my electric chair but would advise caution depending on your transport and ability.

The accessible facilities are in the clubhouse, so they are only open when the clubhouse is open. The day we visited, the ramp was not accessible due to cleaning equipment being left out, and nobody around to ask if they could move it. The non-accessible facilities have a small single step to access them.

The Hall has been boarded up and left to the elements, which is sad to see, as it is such a lovely building. Overall the lack of care and attention here is clear to see and spoils the visit. With some time and money, this park could really be an amazing space, to be enjoyed by everyone. Better pathways, more seating, signage for those less able and better facilities at the main building. It is really a lovely park with wide-open space and enchanted woods, along with a large lake. It would be fantastic if in the future the council could see the positives in investing here.

I don't like to give bad reviews, but sadly, in this case, much improvement is needed. This is a wonderful space with so much potential. Allestree Park also ...

Wheelchair & Accessible Walks High Peak Junction, Crompton Canal, Derbyshire. Nr Matlock

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdszYAa1C78

Hello everyone and welcome to our first walk of 2020.

We have spent an amazing day exploring the High Peak Junction and the Crompton canal, and it did not disappoint.

Last year we took a walk around Middleton Top and Black Rocks, Crompton is an extension to this walk and if your feeling brave can be incorporated, click here to see our Middleton Top walk;
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNL1c...

The walk is suitable for all, with hard compact stone surface and level terrain, (accept the hill from high peak junction carpark to the visitors center.)
A tramper is available to pre-book through the Access for all Scheme run by Derbyshire County Council.

The area is steeped in history and offers visitors lots of great information about how the rail and waterways were used in the past.

The staff here are incredibly helpful and full of knowledge. They were more than happy to chat with us and tell us all we wanted to know!
High Peaks Workshop is a great place to start this adventure, and the audio tour will tell you lots of useful information, to make your walk more enjoyable.

We have begun to rate our walks to better help you decide suitability if you would like to try this walk for yourself.

We have given High Peak Junction and Cromford Canal
8 out of 10 Jet Rating
🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾

Level walk suitable for all
Benches available during the walk.
Dog-friendly!
Disabled facilities, including changing place at Cromford Wharf.
Helpful and friendly staff.
We found the area beautiful and relaxing.
Interesting aspects to discover.
The cost to visit is very reasonable or free.

Ponts were lost for:

limited disabled parking.
Ease of access from the car park to the visitor's center
And for no heating in the accessible bathroom. (that toilet seat was super cold.) 🥶

Overall we really enjoyed our day here and look forward to returning to see more! It is a place for all ages and abilities to enjoy and we hope if you're in the area you will try this one out for yourselves! Check out our playlist for more walks in Derbyshire and different areas!

As always, if you enjoyed this video, please like and share, and hit the notification bell so you can see more like this! We would really like to get our videos out there in the hope that it might help others, so everyone can enjoy the benefits that going outdoors has to offer!

Wheelchair & Accessible Walks Shipley Park, near Heanor, Derbyshire. Happy Xmas & New Year everyone!

We really had a really lovely day out at Shipley park and there is so much space to explore. It is home to some lovely buildings, plenty of wildlife and the terrain keeps changing as you go around.
This walk can be as long or as short as you would like and there are areas you can access, without the need for hiring the Tramper.

If however, you would like to explore further, then I would highly recommend hiring a tramper. We managed to explore only a small part of the park and will definitely be back to see more. Be sure to check out the Access for all schemes run by Derbyshire County Council to find out how to join!
https://www.derbyshire.gov.uk/leisure...

Access here has been well thought out and the staff are really helpful and made us feel welcome. Shipley Park has a fantastic gift shop, lots of information and a cafe at the visitors center, as well as the lovely cafe near to the site of Shipley Hall.

We have set up a Jet rating system, which we will be using next year to rate our adventures. We give Shipley Park 9 out of 10 Jet rating. Great parking, great facilities, good access, and plenty of disabled facilities. We dropped them by one point as we could not access some of the grass areas due to the wooden barriers.

We really hope you all have a lovely Christmas and New year, whether you are spending some time alone watching Christmas telly, or getting together with friends or family, we hope you all have a great holiday and we will see you in the new year with plenty more Wheelchair and Accessible Adventures.

Wheelchair & Accessible Walks, Carsington Water, Ashbourne, Derbyshire Bird watching & Hiking!

Welcome to Valentina Adventures and our lovely walk around Carsington Water on the outskirts of Ashbourne, Derbyshire.

We were going to rent a tramper for this walk, unfortunately, we were not permitted to take it the full length of the walk so decided to use my chair instead.

There is a lovely shopping area at the visitors' centre selling pet and wildlife supplies, outdoor clothing and more. There are cafes and icecream parlours there too.

Everywhere has wheelchair access and the only place we found difficult was navigating the road humps on the far side of the reservoir. There are a number of standard disabled access toilets, which were quite small to move about in, and we could not find a changing place here.

For younger visitors, the visitor's centre offers fun and interactive information about water, as well as an adventure playground.

In the summer it can be very busy here, and even though the winter months, Carsington draws hikers, cyclists and tourists.

The full walk is approx 10k and offers, beautiful views, water, meadows and woodland. Carsington works in partnership with RPSB and is a wonderful place to seek out wild birds that call this area their home.

For those with more of an adventurous side, the Activity centre offers, bike hire, sailing, fly fishing and more!

We really enjoy our walks around Carsington no matter the season.
We hope you enjoy this walk too and please give us a like and subscribe to see more of our walks.

Winter Wheelchair & Accessible Walks Markeaton Park Derby. Crafts, play area & a jogging santa!

Welcome to this week's Wheelchair& Accessible walk.
Today we are at Markeaton Park on the outskirts of Derby in the UK.

We had a lovely winters walk around the park and even spotted Santa!

This park has plenty to offer visitors, from craft makings, such as pottery and wreath making (for Christmas), to scenic walks and wildlife, not forgetting plenty of events and leisure activities available here throughout the year.
During the winter months, footfall here is light. During warmer months, the park can get very busy when there is much to do.

Derby City Council holds events throughout the year here, so be sure to check out their website:
https://www.inderby.org.uk/parks/derb...
Whatever your age or ability, Markeaton Park is a great place to visit! Accessibility is easy for all and with disabled facilities dotted around the park, you should never be far from a convenience break.

Staunton Harold Reservoir is nestled in the national forest, between Derby and Burton upon Trent, just outside Melbourne, Derbyshire. England

This walk can be as long or short as you like, With great accessibility and tarmacked paths, it is suitable for all abilities, chair types, and scooters. There is hardly any gradient here which is great for solo manual chair users.

The site is managed by Seven Trent Water and offers visitors: information, activities, toilet facilities and cafe. There is no changing room on-site, but there is an accessible toilet. (Facilities are only open during opening hours.)

The Adventure playground offers excitement for the children, and picknick areas for parents to look on. There are areas where you can get close to the water, and when water levels are low, a small beach area. (Not wheelchair accessible but you can get close)

Footfall is light in colder months but can get busy during the summer. If you feel up to extending your walk there are routes to access Calk Abbey from this path, however, this could be challenging to access in a wheelchair!

We love coming here and watching the sailboats on the reservoir and the array of birds that can be found here, as we take in the beauty of the area. There are benches at intervals along the path to sit and ponder or catch your breath.

We hope you liked the new layout of this video, (thank you John) and we hope to see you again on our next adventure!

Wheelchair & Accessible walk at Wollaton Hall Gardens and Deer Park

If you enjoy our videos please like and share, don't forget to subscribe. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBajXKdOePKyQPJvCgAE1SQ

We had a really lovely time, wandering around Wollaton Park in Nottingham. We parked close to the house at the top of the carpark and had no problems getting into the courtyards and up to the house in my powerchair. The accessible toilets in the courtyard were clean and spacious.

We went on a Sunday which was very busy with locals and tourists, as we went late we didn't go into the house, but we hope to do another video of this in the future. There is an accessible lift to take you into the museum.

Overall there are some stunning views and historical buildings and gardens at Wollaton Hall. We also saw some lovely quaint shops in the courtyard. We could have quite easily spent the whole day here and still not have seen it all!

As for access, there is something for everyone, young or old. This was the first time we had been and despite the cold and there are some soggy areas on the ground, we managed to get around just fine and are already looking forward to going back and exploring Wollaton hall some more, especially the museum.

Wheelchair & Accessible Walks Bradgate Park Leicestershire

This has to be one of our favorite places to visit!
Even though it was raining, we still had a fantastic day out. we hired the Tramper 4X4 Scooter from Bradgate Park Estate for the walk, which really allowed us to explore lots more that we can't usually access. There is a £3 donation to use the tramper, which we think is very reasonable considering the capabilities it has, and how it transformed our walk completely.

The staff are always so lovely, the visitor's center has lots of great information and the guided tours are extremely educational. There is a lovely cafe behind the visitors' center, serving delicious food and drinks daily.

If you have not yet been, I would highly recommend a visit. Even if the Tramper is not available on the day you want to go, you can still have a great walk or ride along the flat tarmac route.

The park is open on certain days for blue badge holders to drive through the park. Please contact the park directly to arrange this.

If you enjoyed this video please like and subscribe and share it with your friends!!

Wheelchair and accessible walks Blue John Cavern, Hope Valley Derbyshire Dales

Stoped over at this amazing spot to watch the rising Hunters Moon! It did not disapoint, sadly my camera was unable to capture the full glory.

Accessibility: roads here are steap but tarmaced. The area is woth a visit even with limited mobility as the views from the car park are exceptional.

Sadly the caven was closed so could not ask about their accesability, However the road leading down from the carpark was very steap and may not be sutable for some.

I would love to see your pictures of the hunters moon and also your favorate places to visit in the Derbyshire peak districts?
