The year 2019 we did a lot of long distance traveling outside the country.. Fun as these trips were, we encountered a few stumbles along the way. We traveled to places we had never been, so put all our trust in our GPS. We had moments where it led us astray. We would find ourselves in the farms, completely opposite to where we were heading. We would however remain calm, refuse to panic and find our way back to the main road. At one point, we had our trip delayed by roadblocks, be distracted and traumatized by accidents along the way, even a tyre burst in the middle of nowhere. Luckily we always managed to find our way.
Friends, marriage is exactly this. A journey in which obstacles are bound to rock up. Sometimes you will hit potholes on the way, which can leave your marriage torn and flat. However that does not mean the journey has to end. You find ways of fixing the problem and continue with your journey. There will be traffic on the way, involving friends, family, work, temptations sent to slow you down. This is where your character is going to be tested, so make sure you remind yourself why you got married in the first place. Like us, you will get lost sometimes and find yourself agitated, frastrated and close to giving up. However you must always remain calm, recollect yourself and try and find your way back. Getting lost is normal and definitely temporary, however trust and listen to God, unlike our GPS, He would never lead you astray.
It is not a perfect journey, but definitely amazing. It is those obstacles which makes it even more interesting. Surviving them together is what strengthens your marriage and increases your faith in God. It requires team work, and not just one of you doing all the work. You don't point fingers when you hit a detour but comfort each other, while coming up with ways of finding your way back to the main road.
