Le Canada est en feu — et le sol brûle aussi.
On parle des forêts, de la fumée, des vagues de chaleur…
Mais on oublie souvent ce qui se passe sous les flammes : une crise silencieuse du sol.

🔥 La végétation disparaît
💧 L’eau ruisselle sans s’infiltrer
🦠 La vie microbienne est anéantie
🌍 Les tourbières brûlent — libérant des siècles de carbone stocké

Le sol se transforme.
Des millénaires de formation balayés en quelques heures.

Et pourtant… ce n’est pas qu’un drame.
C’est un signal. Un appel à agir.

🛰️ Observer les changements du sol
🌱 Protéger ce qui reste
🌾 Restaurer ce qu’on a perdu

Parce que le sol ne porte pas que des racines.
Il porte notre alimentation, nos forêts, notre eau, et notre avenir.

Canada is burning — and so is the soil.
What’s beneath the flames is a hidden crisis:
🌱 Soil life dying
💧 Water running off
🌍 Peatlands releasing ancient carbon

It’s not just about fire.
It’s about what we’re losing underground.

Soil is life. Let’s protect it.

3️⃣ The Blackout – Keeping energy scarce and unstable.
4️⃣ The Destroyer – Pushing ecosystems to collapse.
5️⃣ The Life Taker – Spreading poverty and inequality.
6️⃣ The Eraser – Wiping out biodiversity, species by species.
7️⃣ The Inferno – Fueling climate disasters worldwide.

💥 But there’s one force that could stop them: Soil Security.
Soil can be our greatest ally—or our worst enemy, depending on how we manage it.

Will we help it, or let it turn against us?

Did you know there’s a type of clay that can actually change size depending on the amount of water in the soil? Yes, there’s a few, but we’ll get into that another day. 😅 These clays can swell up when they’re wet and shrink when they dry out, and that can cause some serious problems. We’re talking about cracks in houses, and in extreme cases, even making them collapse! This is why understanding the soil beneath our feet is so crucial—if you needed any more reasons to care! 🫠

Rising temperatures and water shortages are stressing potato crops, leading to smaller spuds. Plus, warmer weather increases the sugar content in potatoes, making fries darker and less appealing. 😟
