An 18-year-old channeled his inner Vin Diesel, fleeing Highway Patrol at a whopping 133 mph on state Route 201. The chase started at 4 a.m. on July 5th when he was clocked at 105 mph. Initially, he claimed someone else was driving, but later fessed up. His reason? Fear of getting caught for speeding and being tipsy! Now, he’s facing charges of reckless driving and evading police. Guess the “Fast and the Furious” auditions didn’t go as planned!

The City Council has approved ✅ a partnership with Smith Entertainment Group to revitalize downtown with a new sports, entertainment, culture, and convention district around the . This plan includes a remodeled Delta Center, new plaza, hotel, residential high-rises, and more. The proposal still needs state committee approval and a final vote later this summer. If approved, it could lead to a 0.5% sales tax increase and major zoning changes.

A man faces 46 counts of felony theft after allegedly creating multiple bank accounts and transferring nearly $4 million from fraudulent checks and wire transfers. Jason Vaughn Harvey, 45, reportedly used these accounts for fraudulent transactions since January 2023, involving over a dozen fake checks and 33 illegal wire transfers. Despite warnings, Harvey continued his activities, converting the stolen funds into cryptocurrency. He now faces additional charges for a pattern of unlawful activity and forgery possession. He’s being held on a $5,000 bail.

Richard David Hendrickson, CEO of , and his daughter Sally d—d in a crash in Canyon on Saturday when a bulldozer fell off a tow truck onto their SUV. Richard’s wife and two other children sustained minor injuries; another daughter was traveling overseas.

Lifetime Products expressed profound sadness, with founder Barry Mower highlighting Richard’s journey from welder to CEO. Richard also served as a Stake President for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. ( )

Unified police arrested Jadan Pedroza, 21, in Salt Lake City for investigation of attempted m—er after he allegedly sent threatening texts and then fired 18 shots into a victim’s bedroom in a drive-by.

“The victim showed us text messages from Pedroza where he threatened the victim with bodily harm. The victims and suspects had a quarrel over a woman and romantic relationship.”

He faces charges for attempted m—er, firing a w—pon, and possessing a f-rearm as a restricted person. Police found a 9mm handg-n and dr–s in his possession. Pedroza was held without bail.

A man, Richard Lyneal Phillips, 38, was arrested in central for alleged kidnapping after the victim left a note in a gas station restroom. The note, discovered on June 20, led Utah Highway Patrol to track and apprehend Phillips, who faces charges including kidnapping, violation of a protective order, and providing false information.

The victim, held against her will and physically assaulted, had an active protective order against Phillips, who had multiple warrants for serious crimes in Ohio and Michigan. The victim had repeatedly tried to alert authorities during their cross-state ordeal.

Attention, residents! Cove Pond is closed after around 500 fish were found d-ad, including catfish, bluegills, and green sunfish. Utah Division of Wildlife Resources cited lethally low oxygen levels as the cause. Anglers are advised against consuming fish caught recently. The pond will stay closed until the issue is resolved and it’s safe again. Authorities are conducting water tests to determine the cause and will restock the pond once it’s safe. 🐟

While searching for a missing friend, a person stumbled upon the b-dy of a middle-aged man on the 1300 South on-ramp to I-15 in Salt Lake City. Sgt. Cameron Roden of the Utah Highway Patrol stated there were no signs of trauma or foul play, but authorities are conducting a thorough investigation. The searcher did not recognize the d-ceased individual.

A 17-year-old boy faces 19 felony charges, including murder, for a gang-related drive-by shooting near the Murray North TRAX Station. Four employees of the New Yorker nightclub in Salt Lake City face multiple charges after a yearlong investigation. Glen Ross Easthope, Kevin Smith, Kody Brian Valdez, and Oakland Faamoe are accused of money laundering, dr*g possession, theft, and other crimes. The club, which operated illegally as an after-hours venue, has been linked to violent incidents, including a f*tal shooting. It has since been closed.

He faces charges after selling dr*gs to an undercover agent and being linked to large m*th seizures from multiple locations. Castro-Tovar is set to appear in court on June 14.

A 2023 blue Lamborghini Urus, valued at approximately $234,000, was stolen from the short-term parking lot at Salt Lake City international airport. The vehicle’s owner reported the theft to 911 on the evening of June 9. According to police, the suspect arrived at the airport on June 3 and began checking car doors in the parking lot. The suspect discovered the Lamborghini unlocked with the keys inside, then entered the vehicle and drove away. The stolen car, bearing license plate number G829TV, was captured on surveillance footage leaving the lot. The car had been parked at the airport since June 1.
