Bamboo wins the SwedCham HK 2020 Annual Award
At the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong’s Annual General Meeting on 22 June, Bamboo Business Communications won the 2020 SwedCham Annual Award which is given yearly to “an outstanding company or person for their unique contributions to business between Hong Kong and Sweden”.
Bamboo is in good company since previous award winners include the fine dining restaurant Frantzén’s Kitchen (2019), the watch-maker Daniel Wellington (2018), Dr Lau Ming-wai (2017, who brought a Karolinska Institute research centre to Hong Kong), the Sweden Shop (2016), Scandinavian Airlines (2015) and Boris Design Studio (2014).
“I am very honoured having received this award for our company. For 16 years, we produced the Dragon News member magazine for the Swedish chambers in Hong Kong and China. We wrote all the leading articles, did the design, layout, project management and print,” saysJan Hökerberg, Managing Director at Bamboo.
In the motivation, SwedCham HK says that “Bamboo Business Communications has through Jan Hökerberg been an important and reliable member of SwedCham for many, many years.
“Jan and Bamboo have been responsible for producing Dragon News, the member magazine that started in Hong Kong and later developed to a joint venture between SwedCham and the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in China.
“Jan has been able to balance the input from three different editorial committees and always managed to combine the input into interesting and well written articles, all beautifully laid-out and presented with a truly professional touch.
“Bamboo’s and Jan’s tireless efforts have delivered a product which has been far better and far more professional than other similar member magazines.”
Dragon News was produced by Bamboo from 2004 to 2019 and Bamboo produced 64 printed issues of the magazine, created an app in 2014 and developed an online magazine in 2018, www.dragonnews.se. Due to lack of income from advertisers, the magazine had to be discontinued last December. Dragon News articles will continuously be found at www.swedcham.com.hk.
