New batch of Ode To Stone cassettes are now back in stock 🩵

We were happy to see the first batch go so quickly this winter, so we’ve produced a second round of tapes. You can get hold of a tape through Bandcamp or at one of Ingri’s upcoming shows:

Ingri Høyland’s album ‘Ode To Stone’ was created together with the artists Ida Urd, Sofie Birch and Lea Gulditte Hestelund. The 7 compositions investigate the small and big movements and synergies between the stone, the wind, the dunes, the light at the coast of Northern Denmark. The album attempts to physically and abstractly expand our sensation of time and is drawn towards the slow, the extended, and the fluid. A movement and longing towards the earth and the stone.

Philip Sherburne says of the album: “Like a fistful of sand tossed to the wind, Ingri Høyland’s new album Ode to Stone sometimes threatens to disappear entirely. There are seldom more than a few tones playing at any given moment; with the exception of her collaborator Ida Urd’s electric bass, the provenance of her sounds is often unclear. Are they synthesizers? Feedback? Aural illusions caught on tape? Today the Messell album ‘envelope follower’ is out!

The album is inspired by how phenomena - humans, actions, sounds, ideas, movements - form, mirror and transform each other. On a concrete level, Messell has entered an interaction with his DAW where he has let the properties of the sound sources affect each other in a kind of closed, generative system. The music has arisen in a matrix of LFO-carried chains, envelope followers, granular synths and side chains.

‘envelope follower_III’ by Messell is out today 🤍

‘envelope follower_III’ is the sixth track from the forthcoming album ‘envelope follower’ - an enormously dynamic work, where a little sound heard in the background suddenly grows larger and takes over the entire track, and where one element’s sonic evolution affects the journey of other sounds. The music carries a melancholic depth and resides in a fluctuating drone between sorrow and hope.

We’re thrilled to announce that we will be releasing the next album by Messell!

The release is called ‘envelope follower’ and is a dynamic piece that moves in a fluctuating drone between sorrow and hope. Solipsistic emo-ambient for dreamers.

The album will be out April 19th and we will celebrate the release at Christianshavns Beboerhus on April 20th.

Today the Alto Aria album ‘Limerence’ is out!

‘Limerence’ is an album dedicated to the brokenhearted - for those whose hearts aren’t mirrored. The songs together are manifold, insisting on the variety of emotions that arise when you have a broken heart but at the same time do not see yourself as broken.

Sonically, the album deals with softness and hardness. It weaves these two together to create tension and release. Throughout the album whispering voices, field recordings, strings, and hard cold beats create the foundation for different feelings to unfold.

The Copenhagen-based composer and sound artist Ingri Høyland releases a new album - a sound collage in 7 pieces. Being drawn and overwhelmed by the Northern Sea, the album has become a movement towards earth, the stone and towards another temporality.
