Artists, make sure your shockmount is compatible with your mic. Make sure you search up "(insert mic name) shock mount" and verify that the description matches the name of your mic.

What shock mount should you get for your mic? All shock mounts more or less do the same thing. Just make sure the height of the shock mount matches the height of your mic. Also make sure the mic can screw into the mount, not all mount are designed for every mic. Once your look for a mount type in (mic name) then shock mount and make sure its compatible.

Artists, Engineers, & Producers, DON'T BUY THE MOGAMI XLR CABLES….unless you got a Neumann U87 mic or the Song C800-G. These expensive make a negligible difference.

Artists, if you're looking cheap & reliable XLR
Cable, get the Amazon Basics cable. It works like a charm 🙌🏻 once you upgrade your mic to a more expensive mic, then upgrade to something like the Hosa Cable.

NEW MIC ALERT: TLM103

A year and a half ago, I started my engineering journey and never looked back. Getting this mic wouldn’t be possible without all the amazing artist that I’ve had the pleasure of working with. A big shout out to Abstract Studios for teaching me all the foundational elements of engineering. It kick started my journey and from there I’ve been able to expand on my skill set and become a better engineer. Thank you to all the artists that took a chance on me 🙏🏻 y’all made me the engineer today and I’ve been able to reinvest back into the studio. This is just the beginning of the journey and can’t wait to learn, grow, and meet many more amazing people along the way.

Input gain is essentially how sensitive the mic is
to picking up sound. The louder the person
sings, the lower the gain should be. The quieter
a person sings, the higher the gain should be.
Make sure that your meters are hitting anywhere
between -25dbs & -10dbs. and... NEVER HIT THE RED 🛑

Artists, make sure you're recording into the side
of the mic that actually picks up sound. Always
read the instructions because it will tell
you which side of the mic to talk/sing into.

Artists, the proximity effect is how your voice
sounds the closer or further away you stand from
the mic. Stand too close and there might be too
much low end, stand too far and your vocals
might sound thin. Find the sweet spot of around
4-6 inches away from the mic.
