GenZine won awards! 🥳 😆 We feel so grateful to be part of the 2023 Western Rainbow Awards! 🌈 We were winners of the Advocacy Award and finalists in the Youth Focussed and LGBTQIA+ Project Awards! Weeeeeeeee!!!! Great to end the year on a high note and so excited for the shenanigans we are planning for 2024! Tehe 😄

When official GenZine marketing manager ™ Moana suggested showcasing our awkward teen selves to promote the launch, we cringed. Out of devotion to the cause and in the spirit of ~growing pains~ we’ve conceded these figures from our youth are really the best ones to invite you all to down to the Louis Joel Arts & Community Centre tomorrow night at 6:30PM.

Calling all musicians aged 12-25! You could be playing the mainstage at Be Bold Festival happening on Saturday 7 October as part of the Resonate Youth Music Showcase. The showcase is a curated concert of young performers who live, work or play in Brimbank. Selected artists will be paid to perform a live set at Be Bold Festival.

📣This Friday, GenZine is partnering with Brimbank Youth Arts to host a Half-Baked Open Mic, celebrating and showcasing a hotpot of unfinished ideas! 🎤

Anyone with a not-quite-ready bit of writing (think poems, novel ideas, song lyrics) is encouraged to perform. Participants will get a $20 UberEats voucher for their trouble 🥙🌯

For those not keen to perform, we’d LOVE to see you there soaking in the creative energies as an audience member 💕

Come for the baked goods and door prizes, stay for the wholesome artsy sharing and good vibez 🤠

We are excited to be a recipient of the Victorian Government’s West Gate Neighbourhood Fund Grant Round 2.
We received $9,955.00, which will help us to deliver our Gen-Generator project! GenZine issue 5 here we come!!

This is a youth-led empowerment social justice process. We are creating space for young people to generate ideas, conversation and connections, working together toward gender equity in Melbourne’s West.

This is a youth led project that focuses on the PROCESS of youth empowerment, artistic
creation and community engagement.

We view the magazine as a physical manifestation of all the conversations, connections, and learnings gained throughout the events and project.

This process will take the form of a series of youth led events, culminating in the celebration of GenZine issue 5!!
