OFFICIAL STATEMENT
On the release of the 2021 Performance-Based Bonus

April 18, 2023 - The Department of Education (DepEd) is in coordination with the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Harmonization of National Government Performance Monitoring, Information and Reporting Systems (AO25 Secretariat) and the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) on the Performance-Based Bonus (PBB) of its personnel.

The Department has already completed the submission to the AO25 Secretariat of the requirements for staff eligible to receive the PBB for 2021.

We understand that it is undergoing assessment now, and we look forward to its release as soon as possible.

We urge DepEd personnel not to fall into the treacherous tales intended to ignite distrust and anger against the agency —whipped up by shadowy groups whose intentions to cause harm and destroy are disguised as concern.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT
On the hiring of 30k public school teachers

March 27, 2023 - The suggestions of the Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) for the Department of Education to hire 30,000 public teachers and allocate a budget of P100 billion per year for classrooms are obviously deceptive maneuvers deliberately designed to counter the Marcos administration’s solution to the problems hounding the education sector.

The call could not be coming from a place of genuine concern for the future of our learners and the welfare of our teachers. Instead, it is a call motivated by the group’s fascination for demands and goals that are unrealistic and impossible — placing the government in a precarious situation that will ultimately end in failure.

The timing also betrayed ACT Teachers' true intentions.

The call came at the height of the NPA-initiated violence in six towns of Masbate that affected over 55,199 learners and 2,815 school personnel.

ACT Teachers, while silent about the NPA operations, apparently needed to come up with something outrageous to divert the public's attention away from the damage that the NPA attacks caused to our Masbate learners.

For the information of the public, the Department intends to continue hiring additional teaching and non-teaching personnel this year. DepEd is also set to deploy more administrative officers in schools to complement its workforce and ultimately reduce the administrative tasks of teachers.

Instead of solely focusing on archaic and ineffective solutions, we will also tap into available technology to address current challenges.

These form part of the reforms that we will implement to ensure the effective delivery of basic education to Filipino learners and champion teachers' welfare.

The Marcos administration will not be pressured, hoodwinked, or distracted by groups like ACT Teachers.

Our objective is to eliminate elements that contribute to learning losses, effectively implement reforms, and exercise fiscal responsibility by using resources wisely through innovations and mechanisms that will improve learning.

Nice try, ACT Teachers.

ADVISORY ON THE GRANT OF FY 2022 SERVICE RECOGNITION INCENTIVE (SRI) as approved by our Vice President/Secretary Sara Duterte (VPSD):

Sub-aro from Central office on Personal Services savings will be issued tomorrow to the field, while the modification of MOOE 2022 for SRI will also be submitted to the Department of Budget and Management, for the approval of the latter.

DepEd Central Office Finance will process the request for modification to DBM, release of allotment and cash to the field asap.

2022 SRI is a one time grant which shall be covered by 2 sub-AROs to all regions. The 1st sub-ARO will be released today @ php9k for every qualified employee and the final sub-ARO (for the remaining ) after DepEd Central Office’s (CO) receipt of the SARO from the DBM (as a response to our request for modification from MOOE to PS).

Cash back up will be prepared by the CO (thru NTA) for those ROs/SDOs with LBP accounts while for non-LBP, NCA will be released by their DBM-RO counterpart upon submission of their request for the purpose. Thank you.

The Department of Education issues DepEd Memorandum No. 62, s. 2022 or the 2022 Brigada Eskwela Implementing Guidelines.

With the theme, “Brigada Eskwela: Tugon sa Hamon ng Ligtas na Balik-Aral,” the 2022 Brigada Eskwela Program will highlight the country's collective efforts from various partnership engagements in the local and national level to address learning gaps and social issues. These engagements shall create a safe learning environment for the learners, teaching and nonteaching personnel, and community for the achievement of quality basic education.

Hulyo 27, 2022 – Kaisa ang Kagawaran ng Edukasyon (DepEd) sa bansa sa pagdarasal para sa kaligtasan at kapakanan ng mga Pilipino sa gitna ng magnitude 7.0 na lindol sa Abra.

Sinuspende na ang pasok sa mga tanggapan at paaralan ng DepEd sa mga lugar na lubhang naapektuhan ng lindol gaya ng idineklara ng kanilang local government units, alinsunod sa DepEd Order No. 014, series of 2021.

Gayundin, ang patuloy na pagsuspende at/o pagpapatuloy ng trabaho at klase ay nasa pagpapasya ng mga lokal na punong ehekutibo sa kanilang kapasidad bilang mga tagapangulo ng Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (LDRRMC).

Inutusan na ni Bise Presidente at Kalihim ng Edukasyon Sara Z. Duterte ang Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) teams para subaybayan at tumugon sa sitwasyon, kasama ang pagbibigay ng Psychological First Aid sa mga apektadong tauhan at mag-aaral.

PUBLIC HEALTH ADVISORY SA MONKEYPOX

Kamakailan ay idineklara ng World Health Organization ang Monkeypox bilang isa pang "public health emergency of international concern" o PHEIC noong 23 Hulyo 2022.

Sa interes na protektahan ang publiko mula sa sakit at sa maling impormasyon, muling ibinabahagi ng Kagawaran ng Kalusugan (DOH) ang advisory na ito sa Monkeypox na inilabas noong Mayo 26, 2022.

Kamakailan lamang, in-optimize na ng DOH-Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) ang Realtime PCR assay nito para sa pag-detect ng Virus bilang bahagi ng pambansang paghahanda at pagtugon. Ang mga surveillance system ng DOH ay aktibong sinusubaybayan ang sitwasyon.

The Department of Education issues DepEd Order No. 34, s. 2022 or the School Calendar and Activities for the School Year (SY) 2022-2023.

The SY 2022-2023 shall open on Monday, August 22, 2022, and shall end on July 7, 2023. It shall consist of 203 school days or as may be determined by further issuance/s in case of changes in the school calendar due to unforeseen circumstances.

The Department of Education announces the conduct of the SY 2021-2022 End-of-School Year (EOSY) Rites for Kindergarten, Grades 6, 10, and 12 learners for SY 2021-2022, with the theme “Gradweyt ng K to 12: Masigasig sa mga Pangarap at Matatag sa mga Pagsubok” (K to 12 Graduates: Pursuing Dreams and Fostering Resilience in the Face of Adversity).

This school year, we recognize that despite the risks and uncertainty brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the challenges it has posed to education, our Filipino learners remain resolute in their desire to build a better future anchored on a clear vision.

The EOSY Rites shall be conducted on any of the dates from June 27 to July 2, 2022.

Guidelines for the conduct of the rites will be released through a DepEd Order.

Ngayong may bakuna na, dahan-dahan nang bumabalik ang nakasanayang tradisyon dahil abot-kaya na natin ang proteksyon. Kaligtasan ng pamilya, ating obligasyon.
