The visual elements of a website are:
COLORS
The color scheme you’ve chosen for your website can trigger a number of responses – change their perception about your business, grab their attention, lure them to do a particular task, get them engaged with your content or bring a number of other emotions.
FONTS
In addition to choosing a typeface or font family that resonates with your brand, finding one that works across a variety of screen sizes and resolution is another important aspect of the typography selection process. Legibility and readability are two essential factors to consider when incorporating fonts into your website.
LAYOUT
You cannot design your blog/website by placing the content randomly on your web pages which end up in a bad user experience for users.
Earlier website layouts were designed using table structure following HTML rules, and with the introduction of CSS, the web designers follow column-based layout design.
Technically called Grid layouts, which include many columns, sections, rows, and boxes that line up the content and give a balanced look for the pages.
SHAPES
The different characteristics of a shape convey different moods and meanings. Changing the characteristics of a shape alters how we perceive that shape and make us feel differently about a design. Shapes are a powerful way to communicate.
ICONS
Icons can be appreciated for their aesthetic solutions individually, but they don’t function alone. Evaluate your icon designs relative to the graphic system you’re using them in. Make sure that each icon differs from surrounding icons, while still working together as a whole.
SPACING
The website's visual elements are the organization of its information. Spacing methods and layout grids define structure, hierarchy, and rhythm in your design. When correctly used, they reduce decision-making and help establish a rational approach to type scales, positioning, sizing, and spacing
