‘Erudite’ – the word which our committee is named after, captures the essence of being well-read and knowledgeable from rigorous study.
Throughout our 6 years in academia, knowledge endows us with the ability to navigate the ebb and flow of the tumultuous journey. It further proves useful in our life-long learning and is especially relevant in current times of rapid technological advancement. Among other qualities, our expertise stands at the heart of every treatment and every piece of advice we offer to our patients. Proficiency in our practice rewards us with satisfaction and empowers us to make contributions in bettering public oral health. Being erudite, fuelled by an inquisitive mind and fervent enthusiasm, ultimately propels us on the way to experience the taste of life in dentistry.
Emotions, akin to flavours, stimulate and enrich our life. Some have us devouringly craving for more while some repulse us. Nonetheless, life feeds us a plate of assorted flavours. At times we feel dependent on triumphs and euphoria to sustain our lives but maybe, we will grow to accept the less palatable flavours. Within the context of dentistry, life can be achievement-oriented. Fulfilment and pride are the goals of many aspiring dentists but the road to success is paved with failures and frustration. Life in dentistry is concocted with all sorts of condiments, each of its own value. It takes wisdom to appreciate the melting pot of life and perceive it as an experience – feel it, savour it rather than aiming for the prize.
We, as Proposed The Apollonian Committee, Dental Society, HKUSU, Session 2021-2022, wish to not only impart our readers with profound knowledge on dentistry, but also to inspire the wisdom in appreciating the plethora of tastes life in dentistry holds.

青澀年華逝去，猶如雛鳥展翅，踏上自由旅程，體會人生百味。
回想求學時代，入世未深，徒有一腔熱血，對未來充滿期盼，卻不知世間殘酷。
那時的我們──想活出甚麼味道的人生？
現在的我們──又能否毋忘初心，活出真我？
許以鴻鵠之志、七步之才、山海之學，
遨遊穹蒼，濟涉滄海。
而路漫漫其修遠兮，
揚帆遠航，前路茫茫；
或五味雜陳、或百感交集；
甘甜苦澀，冷暖自知。
然終將迎來拂曉時分。
時緣倥傯車路而行，
忘路上之墜茵落溷，
細聽鶯啼、輕呼氤氳；
淺嚐苦樂，遊目暄妍。
融辣甜鹹苦；
合酸澀腥沖，
遂百味歸一，
品平淡真味。
緣聚於齒，
耑齒 奉達。
