Baseball has not been immune to American exceptionalism. There is a tendency to think America has always been the best at Baseball, MLB is the biggest stage, and its players the best. We have now presented with a man who could be the most gifted player to ever do it. When he got here though no one believed in him, NPB doesn't measure up to MLB, the talent does not transfer over. It was the same discourse whenever an NPB player comes over. Not anymore, the world has changed, Shohei Ohtani proved he's the best in the world last night. World Baseball is now Front and Center. Baseball is more than America, and there is more than one "Big League"

Quarterfinal #3 tonight in the 2023 WBC! It'll be the ready hot Puerto Rico squad, fresh off an upset of the Dominican Republic, with their ace Marcus Stroman on the hill. They'll face a Mexico team who have been the most consistent performers in Pool C, notching 3 wins and finishing higher than the US on the head to head. They'll send their ace Julio Urias to the mound. Both men pitched very well in their first 2023 outings, and with the higher pitch limit, they'll attempt to outduel each other to send their teams into the semifinals vs the winner of the US/Venezuela QF tomorrow!

The ABL's finest and some of the better prospects in the minor leagues make up David Nilsson's Team Australia lineup. They've got speed, they've got power, they've got good stuff on the mound. The problem is, everything they've got is not quite as good as everyone else's. They'll nip you for a game or two but unfortunately their chances of making it through to the end are a bit slim.

One of the biggest hitters' leagues in the world brings a squad of elite hitters headlined by MLB talent in the middle Infield! The pitching will be a question mark, but as far as we're concerned, it'll be enough to get them out of Pool B. All Team Korea has to do is execute, and they'll be headed to the US for the elimination rounds, and a chance at their first ever WBC crown.

Samurai Japan is sharp this tournament. There are a few holes, question marks at catcher and shortstop, namely whos going to get the hits behind the plate (if you ask us Ohshiro is the most well rounded option), and without Hayato Sakamoto does Sosuke Genda pull the necessary offensive weight to justify his fielding abilities? Does Lars Nootbar perform as the first player ever to qualify for a roster spot based on his parentage and not his birth? One answer is certain though, will Munetaka Murakami and Shohei Ohtani together on the same team scare their opponents? Absolutely.

Always been a good baseball country, and with its domestic league on the rise, the Panamanian team has the potential to be quite exciting if everything goes right for them...IF. Considering the age of the squad skews either very young or very old, that's a big IF.

History for Team Cuba as for the first time ever, defectors are suiting for the national team! Luis Robert, Yoan Moncada, Yoenis Cespides, and Roenis Elias will lead the team alongside a really spectacular lineup of NPB, LMB, and Cuban National Series all Stars that together, make them the favorites to win Pool A, at least according to us anyway.

Boegarts, Schoop, and the Palacios Brothers headline a well rounded mix of vets and young talent from MLB, LMB, and the Honkbal Hoofdklasse in the Netherlands to make a Dutch team that is definitely in with a chance at advancing out of Pool A, might even win it. But the Curacaons and Dutch that make up the roster are skewing to the older side, and probably won't keep up with some of the better sides in the knockout stages.

The Irony would be delicious if not utterly infuriating. Tokyo's city council has approved a plan to demolish the legendary meiji jingu stadium along with the beautiful wooded neighborhood that surrounds it, one that just happens to contain a row of trees that were originally donated to the legendary modernizer Emperor Meiji...for a new stadium and high rise housing around it. Efforts to renovate rather than destroy have ultimately proven a failure, and it will be struck off the list of stadiums that Babe Ruth originally played in that are left standing in the world. After the demolition, three will remain, Fenway, Wrigley, and Koshien.

A landmark day in the history of NPB! Two of the greatest foreigner hitters ever to do it were elected to the Hall of Fame today. Present for the ceremony was the spectacular Baystar and Giant slugger, Venezuelan Alex Ramirez, and conferencing in on video message, was friend of the channel and Hanshin Tigers legend, Senator Randy Bass. They join Victor Starrfin, Wally Yonamine, and Lefty O'Doul, as the only foreigners inductees to the HOF (not counting Zainnichi Koreans, Chinese, and Taiwanese). Congratulations on your sensational achievements gentlemen, and here's to many more!
