Here is the first story by Second Hand Tbilisi about thrifting.
Egor started thrifting when he was 14 years old. The main reason for that was his mother. “I lost my mother when I was so little. The people who used to know her would tell me that my mother was going to second-hand stores, buying things and changing them. She loved making things herself. She had a very interesting style. I think I am following her steps''. Igor goes to second-hand stores once a week even though he does not have intention to buy something. He says that it is a kind of game he likes to play. “I go to Dezerter Bazaar or Station Square where you have to search for the good things. When you find something, it is like you have won the lottery. It makes me happy”. The other reason for his choice is that he does not like the style of the “normal” stores. “They are all the same shapes and colors which are boring to me. I like texture, patterns and layering in my outfit”. When Igor started thrifting he did not know the environmental impact of it but later he learned more about it from the people that are more experienced. “I started to read a lot of things related to fast-fashion and how it wastes resources. Now I think I have a better reason for doing it and make it my lifestyle”.
