EURO / COPA AMERICA OVER A DEAD PLANET
Without action, we will see temperatures (35C+) that will make it harder for both fans and players. At that temperature, we can expect heat cramps, heat exhaustion, heatstroke and loss of memory, hand-eye coordination and concentration. Meaning professional, grassroots, and informal football will become intolerable.
By 2050, In England, 23 of the 92 league grounds can expect partial or total annual flooding of their stadiums by 2050. Similar fates await estuarine and coastal stadiums everywhere.
Can football be saved?
Yes, but first a few necessary steps would need to be taken:
1. Football needs to declare a climate and ecological emergency
2. Say no to all championship expansion, embracing a less is more philosophy
3. Stop all fossil fuel investment and sponsorship
4. Stop all banking investment and sponsorship from banks and financial institutes that contribute to the climate and ecological crisis
We might not be aware of the terms mentioned above, but these terms may become household terms in a few years if we do not stop harming our planet.
If we do not change our lifestyle, cities shall drown, food shall become scarce, drinkable water will become difficult to find & the functioning of entire countries may collapse.
It's time to reduce our impact on the environment and shift towards having a sustainable lifestyle.
