It’s Surreal… When I had my daughter 3 weeks ago I knew I had to pivot. Being a sahm is all I ever wanted when I was teaching full time. And it’s been such a blessing to have the opportunity to stay home with my girls. However, the desire to contribute financially to my families income and achieve new professional goals only increased after I had my daughter 3 weeks ago. 🔻The DEETS🔻 It’s no longer uncommon for people to make money from home. So why not YOU!? 2 weeks ago I came to this realization. Why not me? Why can’t I stay home with my babies and also contribute financially? Why can’t I do what these other moms on instagram are doing? I came to the conclusion there is no reason why! Bam fast forward 2 weeks and I have learned more about digital entrepreneurship than I could of ever fathomed. All the while having a 2 week old and 4 year old (I know I’m a little crazy🤪) So I know if I can do it. Before you mamas come for me hear me out I have been a working mom and stay at home mom so I feel like I have a good grasp of each. Here is what I hate about being a sahm⬇️ I hate that at times I view myself as a non contributor to my household. My husband being the amazing human he is always reassures me that’s far from the truth. However coming from the workforce my contribution was always financial + shared house duties. Now I cook, clean, do dishes, do laundry and take care of the kids … ya know the basics but don’t bring in my teaching income anymore. I know it isn’t always about the money, but there is something about contributing financially that gives me a sense of pride and passion. I know I can’t be the only stay at home mom that has felt these emotions. I’m gonna be real honest this course and what people were saying about it gave me major scam vibes. I watched for months and rolled my eyes at all the women selling this course. Watching them make tons of money I thought to myself how fake it seemed. Until I began to see people I actually know and trust taking the course and gaining so much from it. Going back to a 9-5 was just not an option! I never thought that would be me. I always have worked since I was 17. Kids change things. Being a present mom is my priority now. Especially them being so little. I remembered when my oldest daughter was 6 months old and my sister (who was her nanny) would send me videos while I was at work. Although I was so grateful to have my sister there with my daughter I couldn’t help but feel immense sadness because I wasn’t. I missed out on so much when my oldest was growing. And I don’t want to do that this time around. I decided to stop scrolling and let go of the fear and hire myself. It was the best thing I could have done. I’m early in my journey and I’m so excited for what’s to come for my family and all those families that this will help down the road. This is a sensitive topic for some SAHMs I left teaching to be a sahm. Financially we could do it and my husband wanted to give me an opportunity to raise our kids. Fast forward a year and I started feeling like I lost myself and wanted to find my passions again. Not to say I’m not passionate about being a Mother, but I wanted something for myself. And that’s okay!! I feel like moms get so much sh*t for saying this. I also wanted to contribute financially to my family and relieve some of the financial stress off my husband. So I decided to start applying for remote positions so I could do both! Unfortunate reality right now is the job market, especially remote positions, are extremely difficult to come by.
