Energy and transportation officials have stepped in to assure the public that there is no fuel shortage in the Bicol region, despite long lines forming at gas stations in Albay and Sorsogon following the impact of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine last week.

The deliveries had been stranded on the road for nearly three days due to impassable areas going to Albay and Sorsogon, according to the DOE’s Task Force on Energy Resiliency.

The DOE is collaborating with oil companies to quickly replenish stocks at fuel outlets.

This effort will restore fuel and liquefied petroleum gas supplies, ensuring that emergency vehicles like ambulances and rescue trucks are adequately fueled, significantly enhancing the capacity to respond to urgent needs. | via PIA SORSOGON

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has assured residents that Sorsogon province has an adequate supply of goods, despite recent concerns about shortages.

DTI Sorsogon provincial head Ma. Lourdes Pancho addressed the public’s anxieties which were sparked by misleading online reports.

These reports suggested a shortage of supplies due to delivery issues, leading to panic buying.

TATLONG BATA PATAY NG MALUNOD SA BAYAN NG BULAN

Ayun report ng PIA Sorsogon tatlong batang babae ang kumpirmadong namatay matapos malunod habang naliligo sa inaalam pang paliguan.

Itinakbo pa sa ospital ng bayan ang mga biktima ngunit idiniklara itong dead on arrival.

Nagpasalamat si dating Vice President Leni Robrero kay Sorosogon Provincial Governor Boboy Hamor sa tulong na ipinaabot ng Sorsogon Province sa Naga City matapos ang bahang dulot ng bagyong sa Naga.

Personal na binisita ni Hamor si Robrero kasama ang mga miembro ng Sangguniang Bayan. Sa facebook post ni Leni inihayag neto ang pasasalamat sa mga opisyal.

"Mabalos pong marhay ki Gov Boboy Hamor asin sa mga Bokal kan Sorsogon sa personal na pagbisita sa satong residensya. Mabalos man sa bilog na Provincial Government of Sorsogon sa pagtabang sa samong namomotan na ciudad."

Matatandaan na nagpadala ng grupo ang probinsya ng Sorsogon upang makatulong sa malawakang paglilinis sa ciudad matapos bumaba ang bahang nagpalubog sa lugar ng ilang araw matapos ang bagyo.

Location of Center (4:00 PM):
The center of Tropical Depression KRISTINE was estimated based on all available data at 760 km East of Catarman, Northern Samar (13.2°N, 131.6°E)

Intensity:
Maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 70 km/h, and central pressure of 998 hPa

Present Movement:
Westward at 15 km/h

A Gale Warning is hoisted over the eastern seaboards of Southern Luzon and Visayas.

TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK

• KRISTINE is forecast to move west southwestward until tomorrow (22 October) morning before turning generally west northwestward for the rest of the forecast period. On the track forecast, this tropical cyclone may make landfall over Northern Luzon on Thursday (24 October) evening or Friday (25 October) morning. Changes in forecast track is not ruled out, depending on the movement of the weather systems surrounding this tropical cyclone in the next few days.

• KRISTINE may intensify into a tropical storm in the next 12 hours. It may reach severe tropical storm category on Wednesday (23 October) and typhoon category on Thursday (24 October) before making landfall. Since this tropical cyclone is still over the Philippine Sea, rapid intensification is not ruled out given the favorable environmental conditions.

The next tropical cyclone bulletin will be issued at 11:00 PM today.

Most Reverend Arturo Mandin Bastes of the Society of the Divine Word, Doctor of Divinity, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Sorsogon, passed away around 6:30 this morning, October 20, 2024, at his brother’s residence in Cainta.

He was 80 years of age, 54 years priest, 27 years bishop, 16 years Bishop of Sorsogon.
