Are Merri-wreck Councillors pulling the wool over our eyes as to the true cost of renaming Moreland?
Just for the record, the Council has created a job position for 12 months for a Coordinator Experience Publishing to oversee the name change, with a salary of $103k-$115k:
So almost half of this year’s allocation of $250k will go towards that one position. I’m betting this cost won’t be shown in the renaming expenses. Along with the wages of other staff redeployed to the renaming, this will be hidden in other accounting line items.
Councillors have told us over and over again that it will only cost $500,000 over the next two years.
Councillor Tapinos stated on his page on the 14/12/2021:
“Fact: The costs are $500k over two years to rebrand and all the signs will be changed over when they need replacing. This will not cost millions of dollars as has been reported by some.
He reiterated this on his page on the 27/9/2022:

Shannon Brooks good governance is not scaremongering, spreading false information, and inflated costs.
The council has allocated $250k in two consecutive years - how much of that money has been spent will be documented in future reports. But I can tell you those banners are not that expensive, the design work was done in-house. The biggest cost has been consultation costs. It has been my objective to decrease expenditure to the ratepayer - that’s why the logo is not changing, that’s why most signs will only change when requiring renewal”.
Isn’t it time Councillors came clean on the true costs instead of accusing residents of, “scaremongering, spreading false information, and inflated costs”.
