This paragraph does not appear to have anything to do with the story about a man getting rescued from a crevasse near the beach in San Diego. I went to the SD Union-Tribune, which is where this story originated, and the preceding paragraph has some of the same wording, but following paragraphs are different. This is from the Extra section, which is not the TCH's responsibility and probably goes with all McClatchy digital editions. https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/public-safety/story/2023-12-22/rescue-effort-continues-on-man-who-spent-night-trapped-in-sunset-cliffs-crevasse Here's the same story from the Tacoma News Tribune, which is the same as the TCH story: https://www.thenewstribune.com/news/nation-world/national/article283449073.html

I've been meaning to post this one for a while. It has probably been there since they started including content from online only editions and then republishing the features in the print editions. So, quite some time. I have a bit of empathy for this, as when I was webmaster, the college's president's welcome page had the word spelled "wecome" for a very long time before someone noticed and told me.

Well, I haven't posted in a while, but I see I have nearly 30 followers, so maybe I'll start up again. With two postings today. This one is somewhat excusable because it's a difficult word. And who knows what RSV stands for anyway. The correct spelling is syncytial. Once you pay attention to it, it's not hard to remember. sync y tial. Sync as in in-sync, then y then tial. Ok, maybe not that easy, either?!?

Here's an error from an online article on the Herald's web site. It looks like it originates from The Daily Beast, so not local content. The author is quoting Tiffany Smiley's spokesperson Elisa Carlson. It took me a while to figure this one out. Finally, I figured it should have been "Now." If you look at the keyboard, those letters are two over and three keys over. Still kind of strange. https://www.tri-cityherald.com/news/politics-government/article265963801.html

Hmmm. I wonder if they're angling for sponsorship from Dogecoin? At any rate, they got it right in the next paragraph. From page 5A today (9/18/2022) article by Cameron Probert:

Just because I haven't been posting, doesn't mean there haven't been errors. Will try to be more diligent. Here's one today. They were having problems with a "while male." Later in the article, it confirms they meant "white."

Oop's!* An errant apostrophe. It's a common mistake, but please! Maybe a copy and paste from the RPL Friends' news release. Maybe an original error by the TCH.

On page 2 today. It's a quote, meaning it should be word for word what she said. I watched the video and neither did she say "little big" nor was that in the captions. Of course, she said "little bit." The "Tri-City Herald Staff" got it wrong it a bitly, I mean bigly (littley?) way.

I've been errant in posting TCH errors. Here's one from today. Also in the article, it mentions a 27 year old identified in part by an AARP card. How does a 27 year old get an AARP card. Not an error, but something that asks to be explained. Anyway, "arrest" should have been past tense "arrested." Pg. 3A, 4/8/2022

Sorry, I've missed posting a few typos over the days, but here's one. I too have difficulty with 'parallel' but then, that's where spell checkers help. From Page 1 article by Cameron Probert.

Ok, I've missed posting some typos, but here's a good one. I pondered this because it made no sense. At first I thought it meant there was 15 inches on February 29, but the article said there was no snow in February last year even though there was a Feb. 29 last year (which I had to look up). Then I figured out that they'd forgotten to change the decade when going back two years.

This comes off a bit "of." Also, I found it confusing that she went off the left of the highway and ended up in the median, but I guess that makes some sense when considering it's a divided highway.

In an article about Roman Ruiz' recovery on page A3, I had to ponder this sentence for a while to figure out he probably meant "Slowly," not "Slowing," which makes no sense.

Today's a good day for typos. Two so far. In the first, about the retiring Kennewick K-9. Hell, he'll be living out his happy years at home with officer Merkl. Let's hope this is missing an apostrophe and they won't be hell.

t's been a while since I posted. I missed a couple of opportunities. I don't always read the Herald front to back, so if anyone finds any typos or mistakes, feel free to post. Anyway, here's today's from page 4A by "Herald Staff" about an unknown substance found in the 300 area, which resulted in a shelter in place order, then sending some home. Where o' where were they leaving?

This error was not the Herald's fault. The New York Times' original article was in error. As I read it, knowing that Eid al Fitr is the feast at the end of Ramadan, and Ramadan took place a few months ago, I went to the NYT and indeed, they had a correction noted at the end of the article.

I'm not sure this totally counts because it's an ad, but this makes #4 for today. A total record. So, there is some unidentified character between these words. This probably means that the space character that was in the ad was non-standard and not in the typeface used in the final ad.

Today's a two-fer! And the second one is from the wire - an unidentified source or service. "beacon of stabilitys" It's basically a rewrite of the press release, but many other sources got the quote right. https://about.simonandschuster.biz/news/alex-trebek/

This is obviously wrong. The blood alcohol concentration (BAC) limit is .08 %. If someone has a BAC of .028%, they are not legally drunk. Maybe he blew .28%, which would be over three times the limit, or maybe they got it backwards and he blew .082%

From May 10. The article refers to "Larios" multiple times, but no where gives his first and last name together. Instead it refers to "Antonio 'Pistol Pete' and Eusiah A. Stell" which gives the impression that Antonio's last name is also Stell. A web search reveals that his last name is Larios.
