The essence of excellence.
This collection captures the vibrant and optimistic essence of Port-Au-Prince during the 1940s and 1950s-a time marked by cultural richness and economic prosperity for Haiti, the first black republic.
The hibiscus flower (choublak), Haiti’s national flower, symbolizes beauty. Women and young girls would often embellish their hair with this lovely blossom. Vendors at the Marche en Fer offered garments, fresh produce, and delicious street food to eager shoppers. Sounds of children laughter ego in the street. It was a period of immense pride for this small nation, brimming with history, culture, and allure.
“Ti Solèy Pòtoprens” pays tribute to an era filled with color, kompa music, and joy.
