Here's an idea: Every year 10% of all regulations should be re-evaluated. This doesn't only apply to the #Texas #RRC, it is a good practice to have in politics and in life.
Burdensome rules and regulations suppress innovation.
I propose that any rules and regulations imposed by the Railroad Commission should be subject to a regular reconsideration process; furthermore, the objective of every regulation should be clear, and the reasoning for the efficacy should be stated. The world faces enormous difficulties, and we, as Texans, can't impose our best practices on the rest of the nation or the world, nor should we. By finding innovative and economically advantageous solutions, we can let profit-seeking motives drive change internationally.
A great example of innovation is how Texans started mining #Bitcoin using flare gas as a power source. Irrespective of your thoughts on Bitcoin, if it makes money, people will do it, and that is precisely what is happening.
The number of cubic feet of gas flared per barrel in #Texas is already among the world's lowest. It's crucial to point out that environmental advocates would've liked to see Texans put strict limits on their flaring, which would've resulted in the forced closure of wells, increased fuel prices, and long term, a more significant net increase in flaring/barrel internationally. Across the globe, companies are mining Bitcoin with gas they would've previously flared. This has reduced flaring per barrel and made operators much money. If environmental advocates had their way, not only would Texans be worse off, but they would also have affected the environment negatively. This is not to say that the industry needs no regulation. However, when faced with complex issues, the authority should always be moved downwards, NOT upwards.
Entrepreneurs can't innovate without room for experimentation.
👇 What do you think?
Here's an idea: If you make a mess, you must clean it up. I'm looking at you, big corporations.
"There's not a peeing and not-peeing part of the pool. If someone pees in the pool, there's pee in the pool."
Allowing innovation in #Texas can create the perfect environment to breed new solutions to pressing issues. #Bitcoin mining paired with flaring is a great example.
#SayYesToDiez #Vote4Diez for Railroad Commission
Why do I want to be #Texas Railroad Commissioner?
My name is Jaime Díez, and I'm currently running for the #RRC.
