I’ll never forget this day. I was running late to my journalism class, traffic was heavy and as I was nearing my campus, the opposite side of the interstate was filled with a long line of police cars heading to pay homage to a fallen officer. Per usual, I’m listening to the Frank Ski & Wanda Morning show and the report I was hearing was wild, because at the time it was not really clear what was happening.

As I’m finally parking, the last thing I heard was a plane had just hit the Pentagon. I said out loud to myself, what in the world is going on? I get to class, and I asked the question once again but this time in front of my professor and other students. I told them about the latest news I just heard and immediately students scurried out the door and into the hall. Moments later, we’d do breaking news segments and school was cancelled for the rest of the day. Cell phones were glued to everyone’s ears. It was mass pandemonium.

I drove home only to witness more chaos and dreadful news. I’ve since visited the 9/11 Memorial & Museum and read the names of those who were killed in the terror attacks. Some events that happen in your life will never escape your memory and this is one of them. #911

8 years ago this week I co-hosted my first radio show with my former professor. It was a simple out of the blue phone call and of course I answered. The talker in me loves the radio, but I need you to get this face! It was a lot of fun! I’ve done this a few more time since then and I always love it. Communication has always been my passion, and they’re several ways to use it. While I did the TV thing professionally, I’m always open to learning how other platforms work. Stay versatile. Stay vigilant. Stay learning. You never know where your big break is coming from!

Sometimes it ain’t (yes, ain’t) your spelling, it’s your grammar! Both are equally important as you convey your message. Incorrect usage of either most likely will reflect poorly. There are so many tools available to help you with your grammar. One I use in particular is Grammarly. Sometimes spellcheck will catch it & well, sometimes it want. ( See what I just did there 🤣) Which tools do you use? Save this and follow for more tips!

Don’t just talk about it, go and VOTE!! I stood in line for a little over an hour, but it was worth it. GA folks get out & vote. And if you’re in a state that has run-off elections make sure you vote as well! Exercise your right.

When you’re writing on social media there’s no need to try and impress anyone. No need for big words or jargon that only people in your business know. Writing over your audience’s head is a quick way to lose them. Make it simple. Simplify your vocabulary and your message. Follow me for more tips.

When using different platforms to convey your message you will need to alter the way it’s delivered. The good thing is that your audience and message is the same, but the way you reach them is different. Each platform has different requirements. What works on one platform, may not work on the other. So while your message is the same, your delivery isn’t. Change up your copy to meet the requirements of the current platform you’re using for best results. Follow me for more tips!
