NSCDC officer allegedly punched singer Yinka Ayefele, threatened to shoot him, for refusing to give them money.

▪︎Yinka Ayefele's account of what happened of what happened:
“I was moving out in my car after entertaining guests, the officer suddenly dipped his hand into my car to take my money but I resisted him and told him what he did was very wrong."
“That was how he gave me a punch on my mouth, I had cut on my lips and blood started gushing out."

"When I called my security detail to hold him, he stood in the front of my car, corked his rifle and threatened to shoot me.
“At that point, his colleagues came and I explained what he did to them. While trying to shield him, they said why am I fighting them, that I am a public figure and I don’t want to give them something? I said if I didn’t want to give him something, I wouldn’t have stopped, wind down my car. I have settled the area boys and others. I wept profusely, because they did this to me because I am physically challenged."

"The attention of the management of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has been drawn to the news ..... on a case of alleged physical assault on a popular Nigerian gospel singer, Yinka Ayefele by an operative of NSCDC.

".....condemn in very strong terms such untoward attitude which is unbecoming of an officer of the law.

"....Consequently, the Commandant General has ordered that all concerned officers be identified and summoned immediately to the National Headquarters for necessary disciplinary action....".

"......The Corps will therefore leave no stone unturned in making sure that justice is served in this matter and erring officers found culpable be decisively dealt with to serve as deterrent to others......"

However, the actor has cleared the air, stating that the video snippet was from a movie role yet-to-be-released movie.

“You should know me by now that I will never do a thing like that. I will want people to zoom into the video, look at the face of the lady and compare it with my daughter. That is not my daughter,” Okocha said.

“What people saw is a scene from a movie I am featured in but it is not yet released. I would have addressed this issue since but I am currently filming in the east and I am very busy at the moment,” he added.

"Good afternoon my fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters in Islam. My name is Olufunmi Bakare. I'm the producer of the movie titled IKU NI.

I'm using this medium to apologise for the misconception of the movie as it's making an unpleasant rounds on social media that it's made with the intention of slandering Islam.

I'm sincerely apologising for this mistake which I feel terribly about. It would interest you to know that am not just a Muslim or from a Muslim family but a practicing one at that. I can never for any reason slander or demean my religion for any form of gain. Why is Sankara seen as such a hero?

"For us, Sankara was a patriot. He loved his people. He loved his country. He loved Africa. He gave his life for us," said Luc Damiba, secretary general of the Thomas Sankara Memorial Committee.

It was under his rule that the country was renamed - from Upper Volta to Burkina Faso, meaning "Land of Upright People".

Sankara himself led an austere lifestyle. He reduced his own salary, and that of all public servants. He also banned the use of government chauffeurs and first-class airline tickets.

Education was a key priority - while he was in power, the literacy rate increased from 13% in 1983 to 73% in 1987, and he also oversaw a massive national vaccination campaign.

He also redistributed land from local chiefs and gave it directly to poor farmers, which led to a huge increase in cotton production.

Sankara called for a united Africa to stand against what he called the "neo-colonialism" of institutions such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.

He was once quoted as saying: "He who feeds you, controls you."

He adopted an anti-imperialist foreign policy which challenged the dominance of France, which retained huge influence in many of its former colonies in Africa, such as Burkina Faso. His widow Mariam has accused France of masterminding his assassination.

"He remains my president. What he did for the population encourages us young people to do as he did," a student at the Thomas Sankara University in Ouagadougou told us

Sotitobire: Appeal Court reserves judgement in missing child case

The Court of Appeal sitting in Akure, the Ondo State capital has reserved judgement in the appeal filed by the embattled founder of Sotitobire Praising Chapel Akure, Prophet Babatunde Alfa.

Prophet Alfa prayed the Court to set aside judgement of the Ondo State High Court which handed him a life imprisonment over the disappearance of the one-year-old Gold Kolawole in his Church in 2019.

The presiding Justice, Rita Nosakhare Pemu after listening to all the arguments of both parties reserved judgement to a date that would be communicated to all parties.
