Giving this a listen after some KISS and Dokken chatter with David Zuzelo and Bob Sargent. Not all that familiar with their stuff but I had to joke that everything reminds me of 1990s horror film end credits. STINGER! Cue Dokken tune!

Picked up the debut, self-titled LP from Werewolves at a collectibles expo last week for a buck. Couldn't resist the cover, funky logo or the fact that it was produced by Andrew Loog Oldham. Got definite "bar band blues rockers masquerading as new wavers" vibes and a first time listen hasn't disappointed, though a couple too many ballads after the LP opens with some rip-snorting rockers. As one blogger pointed out (informative write-up listed below) it's "derivative but ballsy", sorta like John Waite fronting the Black Crowes.

NEW SHOW ALERT: Episode 7 of Around The Dial has been posted for your Mother's Day Weekend listening pleasure! This one goes out to Momma DJ Cosmo who listened to more of my college radio shows than anybody but me. Pretty sure she tuned in on many occasions just to make sure I was alive, but it was the thought that counted. And apologies to my poor father who was forced to sit there and listen as well.

They said it wouldn't last! But here we are with Episode 7 of Around The Dial with DJ Cosmo. It's an hour+ of smash hits from Screeching Weasel, Billy Idol, The Shivvers, Sharona, Dictators, Rick Springfield, Elton John and more!

Recording voiceovers for the latest episode for your weekend listening pleasure. Stay tuned for launch!

SONG OF THE DAY: Happy Birthday to Tito Puente (born 1923), musician, producer and band leader of Puerto Rican descent. His career spanned more than 50 years and featured countless popular dance-oriented mambo and Latin jazz combinations. But I'll always remember him best for his role (as himself) in the "Who Shot Mr. Burns" episodes of The Simpsons, which featured Puente – who had been fired from his job at Springfield Elementary – getting revenge on the crusty billionaire with this Emmy-nominated song.

SONG OF THE DAY: Happy birthday to John Oates (1949) of the great Hall & Oates. This song was the source of much controversy in our house because they said "bitch" and my Mom got mad when she found out I had smuggled the LP 'Bigger Than The Both of Us' out of my older brother's basement "apartment" so I could tape it.

Daryl Hall & John Oates, commonly referred to as Hall & Oates, are an American pop rock duo formed in 1970 in Philadelphia. Daryl Hall is generally the lead ...
