Wild Australia - The Black-Necked Stork
I had been searching for this bird for YEARS. I had hoped to find a Black-Necked Stork when I visited India in 2016. No luck. I kept my eyes out for them on my trips to Australia in the following years. Still no luck. Then I moved to Cairns for about 5 months, and lived right near the water. I woke up to a call one day that a Black-Necked Stork, or "Jabiru" was wading around 5 minutes from my apartment. I raced down there (feeling quite unwell with a killer headache) and spent about 20 minutes filming this lovely bird before the headache got too much and I had to head home. Priviliged to spend even a small amount of time with such an incredible animal.
This is the Agile Wallaby
This is the Agile Wallaby. I was priviliged to film these animals in Cairns, alongside conservation workers working to save a population threatened by habitat loss.
Wild Australia - The Double-Eyed Fig Parrot
The Double-Eyed Fig Parrot is the smallest parrot in Australia. Small and green, they look just like a little leaf. So, if you ever think that you saw that leaf nibbling on something, that was probably a Double-Eyed Fig Parrot. I filmed these ones at a cemetery in Cairns, while they were feeding on a Sandpaper Fig tree. I only visited the spot once but heard that they frequented the spot quite regularly while the tree had fruit. So, if you're in tropical Far North Queensland, keep an eye out for those fig trees!
Filmed with Blackmagic Design cameras and Canon lenses in Cairns, Australia.
The 4K Field Guide to the Buller's Albatross
The Buller's Albatross - often referred to as the Buller's Mollymawk in New Zealand. An incredibly beautiful, smaller albatross, they are amazing to see! I filmed this video on a sunset cruise with Monarch Wildlife Cruises, with countless individuals swarming around the boat.
This is the first video I'm posting on Facebook, but you can check out the rest of the project on YouTube, under the channel WildBoi Pete. I'll be posting the rest of the videos up here over the coming weeks, with new videos constantly being made too. If you're interested in the wildlife of New Zealand, make sure to check the rest of the videos out too! Currently filming The 4K Field Guide to New Zealand Wildlife, and will be starting up The 4K Field Guide to Australian Wildlife this July. I hope you enjoy!
