Thirty Days in Key West: Day Four
Since I am an islander for the month of June, I'll say "we", as in "we don't have normal little neighborhood grocery stores around here, we have palaces."

As the sign says, Fausto's has been around for 98 years, dispensing bread and milk and mangoes to the masses. Most days there are more bicycles in the parking lot than there are cars, but once inside, don't let the throwback interior fool you. Upon close inspection, you find an imported cheese department three times the size of most, an impressive butcher shop and wine department, and grocery shelves that look like they are straightened and refreshed every hour on the hour. And as for the mangoes - they are in very good company with the best fresh produce South Florida has to offer.

If all that doesn't make this a food palace, then I don't know what.

We rolled down to St Augustine a day early just to enjoy a proper dinner here at I told you about it a few weeks ago after a great chat w chef/owner

It’s Mothers Day week, so I won’t cuss, but halfway thru the meal, I was looking at my calendar to see when I can come back w a group of friends. This spot is phenomenal.

💥: Tuna Sashimi….pickled shallots, chili oil, toasted pistachio, yuzu charred chimi kewpie, tomato ponzu (i could drink it like water. Damn)
💥: Banchan….Koji cured Cheshire heritage pork belly bacon, blistered asparagus, spicy pickled noodles, pickled cucumber, artisanal lettuce. And finally….
💥: Garlic Noodle Mazeman ….blue crab, koji butter, ajitama, cilantro, scallion toasted sesame, fried garlic, togarashi…. 💥💥💥

Just over the top great. Looking forward to a great week here for thru the 12th.

I’m not sure how many different ways I can say this was perfection, but it was.

Lunch at was everything I had been told it would be.

💥: Blackened Grouper Sandwich
💥: Double Smash Burger
💥: Crispy Shrimp Sliders w Datil sauce (🔥)
💥: Dirty Banana -Jamaican Rum, Bananas, coffee, Coco-pina slush. Amazing

All of it excellent. Can’t wait to go back.

The special at in was excellent. Great wine selection too. They let you buy any wine from retail shop to enjoy w dinner for only $20 cork fee.

Seared Red Fish on Dirty Fried Rice 💥💥

Savour is a beautiful spot on Park Avenue in downtown Tallahassee.

The building was a police precinct once upon a time where former Doors singer Jim Morrison spent a night after being arrested for actin’ a fool.

It happens, I suppose.

is a fantastic bakery Downtown Fernandina Beach….. everything made in house by a team of rock star bakers.

How popular is this bakery? On weekends they are open 9am to 9pm. The locals would have a fit if they closed sooner.

Pastries, cookies, cakes. Special orders…they are amazing. Very much worth a stop.

Without question the BEST steak I had in 2021….Right here. At in St Augustine. So much great food along

This was just exceptional and perfectly cooked. Swipe to see. Paired w a beautiful Pinot and it was an amazing evening.

Steaks are dry aged at their own butcher shop a couple of miles away.

is awesome and very much open to the public. Best steaks in the area. Fantastic.

I had the honor of a quick stop for a beverage Thursday at one of my favorite places.

Last time I was here, we shot a segment for the TV show. Sept 2018. 10 days later, Hurricane Michael wiped it out. They found their front door 2 miles away.

17 months later (March 2020) Indian Pass re-opened w a ribbon cutting and was shut down 2 weeks later for the COVID Shutdown.

They rebuilt exactly the way it was. Beer coolers along the back wall. Serve yourself. Draft beers too. You pay on the honor system.

Fresh Oysters, steamed shrimp and not much else.

The 2nd photo is the view from their front porch. Middle of nowhere near Port St Joe Florida. Btw, what happens on the porch, stays on the porch.

Such a great treasure.

Was realllly impressed with in Tallahassee this weekend. I’d been driving by for weeks. Parking lot always full. Finally tried it.

Baked goods all made fresh. I saw the muffins coming out of the oven. These guys speak for themselves.

Breakfast wrap was excellent. Full keto menu too. This place is legit.

Totally under the radar breakfast in Tallahassee.

I can’t say enough good things about this Espresso Brownie Bomb from in St Augustine.

It was a meeting spot for our “not just chocolate” tour with this week.

The bakery coffee shop was developed by a group of college aged students with nothing to during the 2020 shutdown. All the way down to recipes. Which are delicious.

In honor of National French Fry Day…best curly fries I’ve ever had. They are EXACTLY perfectly the same today as they were 25 years ago. I cannot explain that consistency. At 12-13 different locations in South Florida. They are freaks of nature. So much so, I stole their photo.

I can’t say enough good things about dinner at this week. I didn’t go back again because we couldn’t get a table. Spectacular. In order:

🍴: Bourbon braised pork belly, smoked molasses lacquer, corn fried oyster, green tomato jam, triple mustard gastrique

🍴: Wood Grilled Ribeye Nachos w queso blanco, charro beans, salsa verde, pico and jalapeño.

🍴: Dr Pepper braised brisket burnt ends

All of it amazing
