President Rodrigo Roa Duterte participates in the 24th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) - China Summit together with his fellow ASEAN Leaders via virtual convention on October 26, 2021.
On this year’s Summit, the ASEAN Leaders and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang focus on further strengthening several areas of mutual cooperation between the regional bloc and the People’s Republic of China. These include the economy, trade, peace and security, multilateralism, and combating transnational crimes, among others.
Since the onset of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, the ASEAN Leaders recognize the aid being given by China in pandemic response including donations of vaccines to the Southeast Asian region. They welcome China’s support to the ASEAN Comprehensive Recovery Framework to overcome the drastic effects of the pandemic and to prepare for future public health emergencies.
As the ASEAN region continues to recover from the pandemic, Leaders urge further partnership with China in boosting collaboration towards economic recovery and integration.
Chaired by Brunei Darussalam, this year’s 39th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits is anchored on the theme, ‘We Care, We Prepare, We Prosper.’ Due to the ongoing public health emergency in Southeast Asia, all meetings relative to the ASEAN Summit are held via virtual convention.

IATF allows gyms in NCR Plus, movement of fully vaccinated seniors
The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Thursday, June 10, 2021, allowed the opening of indoor non-contact sports venues with Safety Seal Certifications such as gyms, fitness studios, skating rinks, and racket sports courts in the National Capital Region (NCR) Plus areas at 30% venue capacity.
Also allowed to open are historical sites and museums in the NCR Plus areas at 20% venue capacity following health and safety protocols and the approval of the local government unit where these sites may be situated.
Guided tours in these historical sites and museums, however, remain prohibited.
The IATF likewise allowed the movement of fully vaccinated senior citizens in areas under General Community Quarantine and Modified General Community Quarantine, subject to presentation of a duly issued COVID-19 vaccination card, and strict observance of the minimum public health standards.
The movement of fully vaccinated senior is, however, limited to travel within their zone as interzonal travel is still prohibited, except for point-to-point travel that was previously allowed.
Also, on the issue of fully vaccinated individuals, the IATF amended the guidelines of inbound international travel to any port of the Philippines of all fully vaccinated individuals who have been vaccinated in the Philippines, stated in IATF Resolution No. 119.
First, the IATF issued a date of effectivity in the abovementioned guideline, which is, June 16, 2021.
Second, the IATF explained the verification process of vaccination cards, stating that a fully vaccinated individual must carry his or her vaccination card which must be verified prior to his/her departure prior to boarding, and a certification issued prior to his/her departure by the Department of Information and Communications Technology or the City Health Officer of the local government unit which administered the last dose nec

Sa isinagawang imbestigasyon, napag-alamang nakainom ng alak ang 56 na taong gulang na biktima bago tumalon sa isang bahagi ng ilog malapit sa Baldoza Brige.
Nang matanggap ang report, agad na sumugod ang Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Station Iloilo, PCG Sub-Station Iloilo Fish Port Complex (IFPC), Special Operations Group - Western Visayas, at PCG Auxiliary 601st Squadron sa pinagganapan ng insidente para magsagawa ng search and rescue (SAR) operation.
Natagpuan ang biktima tatlong metro mula sa bahagi ng tulay kung saan siya tumalon. Nilapatan siya ng first aid bago tuluyang inihatid sa St. Paul's Hospital para sa karagdagang tulong medikal.
Sa kasawiang palad, idineklara 'dead on arrival' ang biktima. Nakipag-koordinasyon naman ang PCG sa kanyang naiwang pamilya hingil sa insidente.
