Barbados was ensconced in West Indies' Lesser Antilles and found on the Caribbean's eastern side. This Caribbean Island is in the Atlantic Ocean and has amazing vistas to lose your heart to. Granted, it may not be the largest island in the Caribbean, but this pint-sized wonder packs in more than one could ever imagine. The pristine sands and the stupefyingly gorgeous azure sea can leave you mesmerized for good. So much so that one would find excuses to come back here. The waves have a gently rhythmic quality, almost as if are swaying to the Samba beats.

Long stretches of gentle dunes at Brandons Beach and palm trees peppering all over the powdery beaches call out to beach enthusiasts; these 10 beautiful beaches in Barbados are a must-visit. People come here to master the art of slathering copious amounts of sunscreen and lying down on the sand to relax and get toasted under the warm lull-inducing sun. All those who want to pack in more action can try the range of water sports activities and enjoy the thrilling side of the island. For all others enjoy the dipping sun on the horizon while sipping on icy cocktails and enjoying the balmy breeze.

Things to do - Snorkelling and diving in the Carlile Bay Marine Reserve, enjoying the native rums in the streets, sailing in the Platinum Coast, enjoying seafood on Oistin's Fish Fry, sipping run in Mount Gay Rum Distillery, hiking through Welchman Hall Gully

Barbados prime minister Mia Mottley will open the 41st Caribbean Travel Marketplace being held on the island for the first time next month.

She is to present the keynote address to the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association’s Caribbean Travel Forum on May 9 as part of the event.

Being staged at Sandals Royal Barbados, the forum will focus on the business of tourism in the Caribbean with topics including multi-destination marketing, intra-Caribbean travel with emphasis on air connectivity, sustainability, technology innovation, labour market concerns, taxation and tourism linkages.

Mottley will encourage delegates to present the strengths, resilience and attractiveness of the Caribbean region to global buyers, media and potential investors.

The prime minister is known for her bold calls for the international community to recognise how small-island, tourism-dependent countries of the Caribbean have been impacted by external shocks such as the Covid-19 pandemic and the broader issue of climate change.

CHTA president Nicola Madden-Greig said: “Together we can chart a new path leading out of recovery towards creating a sustainable industry capable of handling future shocks while continuing to drive the region’s growth and development.”

Is Barbados Safe? Travel Advisory 2023

Barbados is a vacation destination that is popular with celebrities as well as everyday individuals and families. The reason for this is that Barbados is considered a safe place to visit, overall.

Almost a million people visit this island in the Atlantic Ocean. As Caribbean islands go, Barbados is one that has an abundance of features, including beautiful botanical gardens, pristine national parks, and wildlife preserves.

The beaches of Barbados are some of the most breathtaking on earth, and Barbados is not short of them. Tourists have their pick of over 80 beaches, all of which feature that gorgeous white sand that you see pictured in postcards.

Coupled with the overall safety of Barbados and the gorgeous vistas, there’s little reason not to visit this 169-square-mile island in the West Indies.

Barbados wins top Green Destination Award at ITB Berlin

Barbados has copped the Green Destinations Story Award for Environment and Climate at one of the world’s largest travel trade shows, ITB Berlin.

The nomination came from Barbados’ ambition to be the first island in the Caribbean to achieve a 100 per cent renewable energy goal by 2030 and a 70 per cent carbon neutrality goal by 2050. The strides taken thus far have landed Barbados its first milestone in this prestigious category, namely having the largest fleet of electric buses in the Caribbean.

Minister of Tourism and International Transport, Ian Gooding-Edghill, proudly accepted the award in Germany on March 7, 2023, expressing gratitude to Green Destinations.....http://ow.ly/6V0p50NcWbc

Barbados Tourism CEO: Where Next?

Majestic, gentle – even ancient. These are a few of the endearing terms used to describe the sea turtles of Barbados.

The sea turtles have become a favorite marine attraction for many visitors to Barbados, and while these descriptions are all accurate, environmentalist, Carla Daniel, an ambassador of Barbados, knows that these beauties are also critically endangered.

For over a decade, Carla has been busily raising awareness of the plight of sea turtles in her home island Barbados. As Director of Public Awareness and Education with the Barbados Sea Turtle Project (BSTP), Carla’s relentless passion for the environment and marine life, in particular, have helped to drive a movement in Barbados encouraging citizens and visitors to be more cognizant of the more vulnerable species who share the lands and seas. The young, but very experienced, environmentalist strongly believes that it is only through education and awareness that the Caribbean can reap success in its conservation efforts.

Apes Hill Barbados reopens after Ron Kirby reno

Veteran architect Ron Kirby gave his stamp of approval to his finished renovation of Apes Hill Barbados following the reopening in November 2022.

Originally opened in 2009 in the depths of the Recession, the property languished for several years before Kirby was summoned to bring out its long acknowledged potential.

"When I saw Apes Hill for the first time, I saw there were hills and vistas that were just superb," said Kirby during his recent visit. "You can see both the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean in many places. You have the elevation, so I thought all we had to do here was to make sure that visitors can enjoy the time and take in those vistas."

The par-72 layout has likely acquired must-play status for its stunning views over the Caribbean Sea to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. Set within 475 acres of natural, unspoiled terrain and perched on one of the highest points of Barbados, 1,000 feet above sea level, Apes Hill is the most elevated golf experience on the island.

And if there’s anyone who knows about getting the most from a spectacular site, it’s Kirby. He has collaborated with Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Jack Nicklaus in a distinguished career and is perhaps most noted for his work at Old Head Golf Links in Ireland

Lucy Mecklenburgh looked every inch the doting mother as she cuddled her baby daughter Lilah Rose during a Barbados break with her family on Sunday.

The former TOWIE star, 31, cradled her 10-month old little girl in her arms as she kicked back on holiday with fiancé Ryan Thomas, 38.

The couple, who also share son Roman, two, have jetted off to the Caribbean for a half-term break with their two children.

The family are on the island celebrating her father Paul's 60th birthday, as Lucy documented on her Instagram page over the weekend.

The Best Things to Do in Barbados, a Caribbean Island with Strong Black History Ties to the U.S.
About half of the earliest enslaved African laborers sent to South Carolina arrived via Barbados.

Barbados is known as one of the Caribbean’s most picturesque gems—and it has a connection to the United States that many people might not know. About one half of all the earliest enslaved African laborers sent to South Carolina arrived via Barbados, instead of directly from West Africa, according to The Lowcountry Digital History Initiative.

That close link between Barbados and the state of South Carolina drew Martinique Lewis to this island nation of 281,000 nestled in the eastern Caribbean. Lewis is a diversity in travel consultant and the president of the Black Travel Alliance, a non-profit that encourages diversity and equity in the tourism space, and hosts the TV show Black Travel Across America, which will premiere this month on National Geographic.

“Barbados was eye-opening because of its direct relationship between Black people who were brought [there] from Africa, and Black Americans,” she says.

Caribbean Escape: Welcome To Bountiful Barbados
Richard Jones discovers the delights of this stunning all year round destination.

Powder-white beaches fringing glistening turquoise waters, brochure-cover sunrises and sunsets, mouth-watering Bajan food and endless rum sours; you don’t have to be a genius to work out why Barbados is the UK’s favourite Caribbean destination.

That said, life on the island has changed a fair bit since my previous visit 18 months ago. Back then, the country was at the tail end of the Covid lockdown, with a 10pm curfew in place and lucrative cruise ships unable to dock in Bridgetown. Thankfully, holidaymakers are now back in their droves, enjoying everything that the relatively new republic offers.

However, the biggest difference I noticed this time around was at my hotel. On my last visit, I had a short tour of O2 Beach Club and Spa during its renovation. The results are nothing short of spectacular, and as a residential guest at Barbados’ coolest five-star resort, I soon drifted into life as a VIP.

Spotting hummingbirds, hiking in rainforests, and snorkelling with tropical fish: How to see AMAZING wildlife in the Caribbean

Imagine swimming with turtles in crystalline waters or hiking through the rainforest to see gem-coloured parrots fluttering among the trees. Perhaps you'd rather hear the roars of howler monkeys, or the shrieking of birds high in the trees.

The Caribbean may be known for its white-sand beaches and turquoise sea, but as you travel between the different islands and territories on a P&O Cruises holiday, you can discover an incredible variety of landscapes, and enjoy wildlife experiences to rival even the best nature documentary.....http://ow.ly/xf8k50MWcR9

Crystal Cove

Crystal Cove is our top choice for family-friendly hotel in Barbados. With a beautiful beachfront location on the west coast and with Holetown just a quick five minute drive away, Crystal Cove offers plenty to do both within and outside the resort. Crystal Cove is made up of a group of colourful little villages all centred around three outdoor swimming pools complete with swim up bar. Many of the rooms are interconnecting and some have sofa beds perfect for kiddies. There’s also a kids club, which doubles as a games room for wholesome family fun. While Crystal Cove doesn’t have its own spa, guests do have access to the spa at sister property The Waves. Plus, thanks to Elegant Hotel’s dine around programme, guests can also eat at two nearby Elegant Hotel properties too. We particularly like the hotel’s Cave Bar, which is carved into a rockface by the pool.

Cobblers Cove

This pink palace in Speightstown is located in beautiful Gogings Bay on the west coast of St Peter. While paying tribute to Barbados’ colonial past, the hotel is a true celebration of Barbadian culture and flair. With a predominantly British clientele, this is a great choice for fist-time visitors as it blends Barbadian influences with quintessentially British touches (like its excellent afternoon tea). Charming Speightstown is just a 10 minute beachfront stroll away and offers some lively bars and restaurants. Of course, there is a swimming pool, a spa, tennis court and a wide choice of water sports – and Free WIFI for those who need to catch up on emails while on holiday. But what people really rate about Cobblers Cove is the excellent personal service that is touted as one of the best in the island.

Barbados has been selected to host the 41st edition of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association’s (CHTA) Caribbean Travel Marketplace. The event will be held at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre in Bridgetown from May 9 -11, and it is expected to build on the success of the 40th staging held in Puerto Rico last fall.
