: Finally, ASUU Supends Strike After 8 Months.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has suspended its eight month strike, Campus Catch NG has confirmed.

The decision was taken unanimously by members of its National Executive Council after a lengthy six hour meeting which began on Thursday night.

Speaking to our correspondent after the meeting, a member who requested anonymity said the outcome was positive and the final decision was adopted based on how the branches voted. He also hinted that university students have waited long enough and can return to class once again.

When ASUU president Prof. Emmanuel Oedeke was reached, he only briefed that "We (ASUU) will release an official memo today (Friday)" and also, adding that the 'result is not a bad one'

Full details of the agreement between the union and the federal government that led to the suspension of the strike are expected in a press conference later today.

🔥Tuesday 11th October 2022: ASUU Zonal leadership meets to consider merits in Speaker Gbajabiamila's recommendations to the president to end the strike.

🔥Wednesday 12th October 2022: ASUU holds congress to react to President Buhari's expected speech today (Tuesday 11th October) on the ongoing strike and his decision and concessions to end the strike once and for all .

🔥Thursday 13th October 2022: ASUU National Executive Committee, NEC, meets to decide on opinions harvested at its respective meetings.

🗣️If things go according to plan, between Thursday and Friday the strike should be called off.

🗣️Both sides are ready to make concessions.

Varsities Under ASUU will start having their Congress meetings Starting from tomorrow in order to agree and sign agreements made with HOR, after which the NEC meeting will take place to call off Strike.

Possibility of Strike Ending this week.

No Responsible student will still be praying for strike not be called off by now.
