Jerry Koosman tosses a 3-hit shutout against Montreal to push the Mets current win streak to 4 games. It was a three game sweep of the Expos and saw the return of Rod Gaspar, Jerry Grote, and Bud Harrelson from injuries during the series.
Mets are now 87-56, 2.5 games ahead of the Chicago Cubs who are 85-59. The Mets are 11-1 in my replay (they were 9-3 in real-life).
History Maker Baseball by Plaay Games
Gaming Session 2000 of my Gaming Log history was Game #5 of my 1981-82 Wayne Gretzky replay. Gretzky scored a goal and now has 6 goals in 5 games. He is ahead of his early pace that season (+3), but he'll need to pick up the pace to score 50 in 39 games.
At significant milestones I like to look back at what games I played at certain intervals. Here's the games I played every 500 games on the road to 2000.

This week is number 150! I'm taking a look at 5 (or so) sports I wish I had a good representative game for in my collection. I also provide a tabletop recap and talk about some news across the gaming community.
My Legends of Boxing Junior Welterweight 2024 Showcase came to a dramatic end with Aaron "The Hawk" Pryor defeating Ricky "Hitman" Hatton by TKO in the 2nd round. Pryor dominated that round dropping Hatton to the canvas twice. Pryor finishes the showcase at 3-0.
My Night 3 matches were exactly the same as Night 1, so I think next time, for some more variety, I might drop the loser of the opening bout and select a new fighter.

2023 Legends Cup Project Final with Soccer Blast by Plaay Games.
Argentina I wins the Cup with a 1-0 victory over Germany II. DiStefano scored the lone goal of the game, and Argentina I completed their clean run through the tournament mostly due to defense and goaltending. Here's their road to the championship.
Game 1: Defeated Argentina II 2-0
Game 12: Defeated Europe South 1-0
Game 17: Defeated British Isles 1-0
Game 20: Defeated Europe East 1-1 (4-3)
Game 21: Defeated Germany II 1-0
So that's 6 goals for and 1 against in five games.
Germany II advances to my 2023 Legends Cup final with a 1-0 win over Italy I. How do you beat such a strong defensive team? Wait for them to beat themselves! The lone goal was an own goal by Italy.
Germany will face the winner of Argentina I and Europe East.

1st historical play of 2024 is the 1954 Masters playoff between Ben Hogan and Sam Snead. This was never really close. Snead shot a bogey-free 69 and Hogan was 4 over on the front nine, finishing at 76. The Green Jacket goes to Snead.
In real-life this was a much closer contest despite the same result. Snead won the playoff by a single stroke (70-71) to reclaim the Masters championship from Hogan who had won it the previous two years.
Both were age 41 and neither would win another major after this tournament.

This schedule was also compounded by the fact that I was further behind on my monthly projects than I thought, so I'm playing some catch-up. That means on top of this demanding schedule, I also need to complete some additional Soccer and Wrestling sessions.

Just wrapped up (pun intended!) my final project for 2023. The 1961 Continental League tournament using History Maker Baseball Express. Dallas defeated Montreal in 5 games to win the tournament, which featured Best-of-Five series in each round.

Historical Replays.
One of my projects this year was to complete a series of historical replays. The idea was to schedule single events that were either seasonal events, or had some historical significance. It also gave me a chance to get some games on the table as I worked toward another goal to play everything in my collection this year.

This week I count down the Top 63 games of 2023 from my tabletop. I included gaming sessions from the past 365 days, and eliminated any non-sports games (although some made my honorable mentions) and then counted down all the way to #1. Where did your favorites rank? Find out!
Kicked off my new History Maker Baseball project today. I'm replaying the late push by the New York Mets in 1969 as they became the first expansion team to win a league title and a World Series.
On August 31st the Mets split a DH in San Francisco. That left them 4.5 games behind the Chicago Cubs in the NL East. Those two teams had the two best records in the NL.
When the season ended (with a loss to the same Cubs), the Mets were 8 games in front and on their way to the postseason. The 24-8 record from September 1st to October 2nd will be tough to duplicate, but that's the goal!
In the first three games, the Mets swept the Dodgers and are already +2 for that stretch.

Yep ... Softball made it to the table. It's Game #79 for the year! Decided to get in the New York State of Mind for this one.
This week I sit down with Sean Culnan who has completed several 'mega' projects over the past few years. We'll talk about strategies he uses as well as recap those projects.
Portland's loss in Week 6 clinches the AGL title for Orlando, who already beat Portland and Los Angeles head-to-head in Season 2. I will be playing the Week 7 schedule this month with just some individual performance left to decide. Then it's the offseason schedule to set roster for Season 3.

This week's episode is all about recapping the 2023 Holiday sale which isn't quite over yet ... but is for me! I also recap the week that was on the tabletop.
600 Gaming Sessions in 2023.
Spurred on by a large increase in express games, I found a way to shatter my previous record for sessions. This year was also helped by attempting to get as many games on the table as I could (74 and counting for the year!)
As we march into December, I plan on having a couple of recap episodes that will explore what helped make this a possibility.
Top of the Stretch: All-Time Great Kentucky Derby.
War Admiral wins the Kentucky Derby by 1 1/2 lengths over Buckpasser, with Secretariat third. Buckpasser, Secretariat, and Sunday Silence found themselves in a photo finish at the end.
Top 10 horses will advance to the Preakness Stakes with Count Fleet, Cigar, Gallant Fox, Seabiscuit, Affirmed, and Alysheba rounding out the Top 10.
Together with some Match-Up College Football today, that makes 72 different games on my table this year.
