The key to innovation is implementation.

More than generating the next big idea —it involves how you implement the ideas that make it out of the gate, and how you build the culture to sustain the creation of those ideas.

The biggest change state's new discovery laws?

Prosecutors must automatically hand over relevant information in a timely fashion.

Previously, state law required discovery only if the defense filed a written request for it. It also imposed no time frame for discovery after the request was made, so prosecutors used to be able to keep relevant information from the defense until the eve of a trial. Under the new law, prosecutors must provide the defense with all evidence it has access to within 15 days of an arraignment.

New York state’s criminal justice reforms have drawn a lot of scrutiny since being passed at the beginning of April last year. Critics have focused on changes to the bail law that mandated the vast majority of those charged with misdemeanors and nonviolent felonies be released without bail.

Biser Dimitrov: We’re already one month into 2020 and it’s clear that this will be an exciting year for the enterprise blockchain space. [...] The mass adoption of blockchain-enabled services and business processes depends upon the maturity of cloud providers with respect to blockchain technology.

Since the beginning of the year, Telefonica, Deutsche Telekom, CaixaBank, Walmart and Merck are showing significant interest in expanding their blockchain capabilities. This pushed the upgrades of the enterprise blockchain protocols further and teams are delivering enhanced features.

From agriculture to healthcare and even sports, blockchain is already changing how employees create value and the way customers experience value.

So, it’s important to think about blockchain as a tool to achieve business outcomes versus a standalone goal.

“Of course, blockchain is more complicated than a Google Doc, but the analogy is apt because it illustrates three critical ideas of the technology:
1) Digital assets are distributed instead of copied or transferred.
2) The asset is decentralized, allowing full real-time access.”
3) A transparent ledger of changes preserves integrity of the document, which creates trust in the asset.

Blockchain has been called the most democratic form of banking.

Among the many reasons, one is that blockchain doesn’t have a transaction cost. It passes from one party to another in a safe and automated way.

It’s then verified by thousands, if not millions of computers around the world. Once verified, it’s added to the chain with a unique record/history.

“Blocks” that make up Blockchain are made up of digital pieces of information and broken into three specific parts:

1) Blocks that record digital transactions

2) Blocks that archive and store who made the transaction — or your unique digital i.d.

2) Blocks that store unique information, known as a “hash.” No two blocks are the same.
