Under the shimmering lights of the UNC College of Criminal Justice Education, the faculty, alumni, students, and guests gathered for an event that would be etched in their memories forever. The department embarked on a memorable night during the Emblems of Calibers: Knights Awards and Testimonials held last June 11, 2024, at the University of Nueva Caceres, Social Hall.

The night was not just an event. It was a celebration of the vibrant community, a testament to the unwavering dedication and brilliance of those involved. The evening was paved with a warm welcome, acknowledging the students' hard work and great achievement with their academic excellence and special awards. It was a recognition of the deserving students who manifested excellence in leadership, community service, research, and others. As familiar faces from years past filled the room with stories of their journeys and successes, the distinguished February 2024 Registered Criminologists were also in attendance and celebrated for their remarkable contributions, inspiring everyone present with their dedication and impact.

As the evening unfolded, the night was a beautiful blend of reflection on past successes and a hopeful look toward the promising futures of our newest pioneers. It was an evening filled with pride, joy, and a shared commitment to shaping a better tomorrow. UNC Criminology congratulates MS. LHAARNY CASILAO AGNAS for bagging the CHAMPION title in the Mixed Relay Competition during the Iron Man 5150 Triathlon last February 11, 2024 at Lago Del Ray Capitol, Pili, Camarines Sur.

Such event is a manifestation of her exemplary skill as a swimmer and a team player in an international platform. Her achievement serves as an embodiment of the UNC’s core value, “We Champion Excellence.”

The UNC College of Criminal Justice Education reinforces its partnership with the National Police Training Institute Regional Training Center through a three-day boot camp involving all 4th-year Criminology interns at Camp BGen Simeon Ola, Legazpi City, on October 26 to 28, 2023.

With 𝘾𝙊𝙐𝙍𝘼𝙂𝙀 to champion the continuous improvement of UNC-CJE to be the Bicol's leading educational institution in producing criminologists embodying the law enforcement fields, generating 𝙅𝙐𝙎𝙏 graduates valuing public service and 𝙀𝙈𝙋𝙃𝘼𝙏𝙄𝘾 in deeds, the department constantly commits to producing future-ready graduates that raises the flag of adapting to change and making strides.

𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | With the constant feat, the University of Nueva Caceres College of Criminal Justice Education once again rose to the occasion by producing Registered Criminologists, which garnered a 50% rating for the first-takers in connection with the August 2023 Criminologists Licensure Examination (CLE).

A well-deserved tribute was held at the 2nd Floor NB Lobby at 10:30 - 12 noon for the graduating seniors to celebrate the painstaking efforts that they exerted for four years in college.
Surprised with a flash mob, games, and a bounty of food, 4th year students got together and enjoyed themselves before they officially graduate, signifying the beginning and end of a formative and memorable chapter.

Angelika Villarino is a graduating Criminology student of UNC. She concurrently assumes the role of Director under the Department of Community Services and Awareness of USG. Last May 4, 2023 (Thursday) at Libmanan, Camarines Sur, her mother got into an accident where she was ran over by a passenger bus which resulted in amputation.

MAJOR MARDJORIE PAIMELA P PANESA (AGS) PA, Commandant of University of Nueva Caceres ROTC Unit together with the members of ROTC Training Staff paid a courtesy call to MS FAY LEA PATRIA M LAURAYA, Ph.D, University President. The party discussed the status of implementation of ROTC in the university and other lined-up activities such as Regional Annual Administrative and Tactical Inspection (RAATI) which aimed to evaluate the knowledge, skills and performance of the Corps of Cadets and existing conditions of ROTC Unit and the opening of Cadet Officer Qualifying Course (COQC) which aimed to cultivate the interests and enhance military knowledge, skills, and develop leadership potentials of cadets.

DR LAURAYA expresses her gratitude in behalf of the school and parents of the ROTC cadets as she recall the return of ROTC program in the university since the school’s ROTC Unit became dormant for almost 21 years from the start of the implementation of RA 9163 or otherwise known as NSTP Law in the school year 2001-2002. She further lauded her expectation to the Training Staff for the quality and oriented implementation of ROTC program.

With the theme "𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀: 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻," held last February 17, 2023, a 4th-year Criminology student raised the bar as 𝐌𝐒. 𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐀 𝐆. Last February 11, 2023, the ICES - Association of Community Extension Volunteers of Criminal Justice Education conducted the TRIO PROJECT: Tree Planting, Tree Parenting Seminar, & My Tree, My Story Project at Angat Buhay Village of Sagñay, Camarines Sur.

With the theme revolving on "Succoring Resolutions Towards Attaining Natural Equilibrium and Sustainable Growth," the respective speakers from the organization expounded the concept, benefits, and significance of tree planting while instilling the intrinsic value of parenting through showering love, care, and patience.

In joining forces to create future-ready graduates, Dr. Romeo M. Sumayo Jr., UNC Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Lorlie B. Tanjay, Dean of Criminal Justice Education, and Dir. Jo-ann L. Dancalan, Director of UNC Career Center, with PCOL JULIUS CAESAR M DOMINGO, the Provincial Director of CSPPO initiated the signing of Memorandum of Agreement between the UNC-CJE and the Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office on January 30, 2023, at CSPPO Parade Ground Concepcion Grande, Naga City. The MOA signing was held right after the traditional flag-raising ceremony of the CSPPO.

PLTCOL RUBEN N PERICO, the Chief of PARMU, introduced the Guest of Honor and Speaker, Dr. Romeo M. Sumayo Jr., to give his inspirational message and extend his gratitude for the collaboration of the department and the CSPPO in preparing the UNC Criminology Interns to be one step closer to their dreams. After an inspiring speech, he received a certificate of appreciation headed by PCOL JULIUS CAESAR M DOMINGO and DPD heads.

The ceremony and the MOA Signing ended with the singing of the PNP Hymm.

𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐁-𝐒𝐈𝐊𝐀𝐓 𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐨𝐮𝐬, 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐁𝐅𝐏-𝐍𝐀𝐆𝐀

On Monday, 14th of November 2022, the Criminology Interns of the University of Nueva Caceres College of Criminal Justice Education commenced their OJT (On-the-Job Training) deployment at the Bureau of Fire Protection Naga City Fire Station. In this deployment, the reporting day was from Monday to Friday, where the reporting time started from 8 AM to 12 NN and was led by the Team Leader John Dominic C Acuña. The duty must be completed in 100 hours. Hence, the Criminology interns were expected to render their duty up until the 16th of December 2022.

Moreover, in the five-week duty as an intern, there have been various physical activities, lectures, and skills demonstrations that the interns learned and adapted efficiently and effectively that were spearheaded by the BFP staff and personnel. One of the lectures that have been taught was the Fire Safety Measures and the different types of knot tying. Afterward, an assessment and actual performance of applying the lessons took place. Apart from this, the team was divided into five groups to render their duty to the different sections of the Fire Station. Every two (2) days, there is a rotation for the next team to experience the kind of work that a Fire Officer does in day-to-day work in their chosen profession.

Correspondingly, F03 Restituto N Dait Jr was said to be the Field Supervisor of the Criminology Interns during their deployment. Whereas, F01 Cherry May B Baduya was in charge of guiding and commanding the interns. Along their journey, F01 Baduya never seemed to forget to remind the interns of this mantra—FOLLOW and FOLLOW until you FOLLOW NO MORE.

Undoubtedly, BATCH ALAB-SIKAT demonstrated the core values of being Courageous, Just, and Emphatic interns at BFP-NAGA by significantly obeying the rules and regulations of the agency and course. The partner agencies of their internship program can expect courteous, compassionate, and disciplined interns to do what they oath to do to bring pride and honor to the University of Nueva Caceres.

Finally, the UNC-CJE interns remarkably concluded the day of their graduation from their internship program on Wednesday, 14th of December 2022, at 8:00 AM at the Bureau of Fire Protection Naga City Fire Station. This ceremony was conducted with the BFP staff and personnel under the supervision of the Acting City Fire Director F/CINSP Peterpaul V Mendoza and participated by the Criminology interns to receive their certificate of completion of the said program. The ceremony ended by having the traditional "boodle fight" to celebrate the accomplishment of the interns. By all means, the remaining two days of their duty were filled with discipline, camaraderie, values, and principles that brought them closer to excellence and success.

Finally, the quest for the next Mr. and Ms. University 2023 has officially started!

This 2023, it's time for the University Student Government together with the UNC Women's Club and Social Arts Council to search for candidates who do not only hold extraordinary beauty, but also exhibit exceptional qualities and intelligence necessary to prevail in each of the stages. It's the battle between brains, wit, confidence and beauty. Answers will be unraveled to who will win the title, who will lose and who will bring home the crown.

With this, each respective department shall have at most 2 representatives, (1) male candidate and/or (1) female candidate. The deadline for application is until February 1, 2023 (Wednesday) on or before 5:00pm at the Office of Student Affairs, Room 109, AMS Building.

𝐉𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐈𝐍 | With such an overwhelming triumph, the University of Nueva Caceres College of Criminal Justice Education produced 10 out of 24 Registered Criminologists relative to the December 2022 Criminologists Licensure Examination. The said milestone of the consistent commitment of the department bears the fruit of being the NUMBER 1 Criminology institution in Metro Naga with an ABOVE NATIONAL PASSING PERCENTAGE of 41.62%, higher than the national passing rate of 33.18%
