Let's talk breaking records for this week's . This week, it was announced that the soybean yield record had been broken. Alex Harrell, a farmer in Georgia, harvested an average of 206.7 bushels per acre of soybeans on a 2.5 acre certified yield plot. THAT'S A PILE OF BEANS! For comparison, the North Carolina average soybean yield is right around 40 bushles per acre. The average in the United States is usually around 50 bushels per acre. We won't harvest our soybeans for a while yet but I've included a picture from last year's harvest. These were pretty decent soybeans that picked nearly 50 bushels per acre. I can only imagine what 4 times that would look like! It seems that the critics always come screaming out of the wood work when something like this happens. They say "It's not scalable to farm level. He got lucky. It doesnt matter because he spent so much he didn't make any money." I say blah, blah, blah. I think it is awesome! Anytime we push the limits of current knowledge and expectations, it is a good thing. Not only did Mr. Harrell set the new record, he shattered it. He beat the previous record by 16 bushels per acre! That is more than squeaking by. In my experience, people seldom throw rocks at those that do nothing. It is only the ones who go above and beyond, try to do the impossible, and succeed, that get the attention. I would wager that it took a considerable amount of inputs, management, and even a little luck to accomplish this record yield. The articles I read never mentioned how many times Mr. Harrell came up short. I'd bet there were several. This only adds to the significance of this accomplishment. Exploring the genetic potential of modern varieties is something worthwhile. Even if these results can't be replicated on a farm scale, certain aspects of his plot can. Fertility, fungicide and insecticide programs, and soil and tissue testing are all things that show promise for every producer. In the words of Taylor Swift, haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate. I applaud this record breaking effort. I applaud all the men and women pushing the limits everyday in agriculture, even though most of them will never set records. 5% better is still better. It is critical to explore the edges of the curve so that we know what is possible. Until next week, keep working diligently towards your record-breaking effort. As I've said before, you either win or you learn. God bless you! As always, .

Hi friends! I realize I have a lot of new followers of late so thought I would “reintroduce” myself. I’m Michelle! I was a livestock and row crop farmer for almost 8 years in Iowa when I started the “Farm Babe” back in 2014.

I am a public speaker, author, and professional social media content creator who travels the world to help share the story of food origin and promote farmers and the agriculture industry overall - through science based evidence and hands on knowledge.

My niche is mythbusting! As a former city girl (college in Los Angeles and resident of downtown Chicago for 12 years for college and my 20s) I learned firsthand that there’s a HUGE disconnect between cities and rural. So I work to communicate the science behind global food security in a bigger, better way.

I now live near Gainesville, FL but spend most of my time traveling and speaking to advocate for agriculture. Where does your food come from? You could say I have the worlds coolest career 😊

I am 40 years old. I have a boyfriend but never married with no kids or pets, which gives me the freedom to travel and experience all that farmers have to offer. I LOVE sharing their stories! I also enjoy golf, snorkeling, skiing, playing competitive poker and more.

Thank you so much for the support and for being here! And if you ate today…thank a farmer 😉

👋😃 Hey everyone! Today I would like to share some insight on why we choose to use soybean meal as a primary protein source in our livestock feed. Here are just a few of the benefits of this awesome ingredient:

1️⃣ Nutritional Powerhouse: Soybean meal is an incredible protein source, boasting a well-balanced amino acid profile that promotes optimal growth and development in animals. It contains all the essential amino acids necessary for livestock to thrive, ensuring they receive the nutrients they need for peak performance. 🏋️‍♀️💪

2️⃣ Unbeatable Digestibility: When it comes to digestibility, soybean meal reigns supreme. Its protein is readily broken down and absorbed by animals, ensuring efficient utilization and minimal wastage. This means your animals can make the most out of each mouthful, maximizing their growth potential and productivity.

3️⃣ Versatility: Soybean meal is incredibly versatile and can be used across various livestock species. Whether you have cows, chickens, pigs, or sheep, you can rest assured that our soybean meal-based feeds will provide the necessary nutrition tailored to each animal's specific needs. 🐄🐔🐖🐑

4️⃣ Economic Advantage: We understand that managing livestock can be a significant investment. By utilizing soybean meal as a primary protein source, we can offer you cost-effective feed solutions without compromising on quality or nutrition. Soybean meal provides an excellent balance of affordability and performance, helping you optimize your farm's budget. 💰

5️⃣ Sustainability Champion: Soybeans are a renewable resource, and their production requires fewer natural resources compared to some other protein sources. By using soybean meal, we contribute to a greener future while ensuring the nutritional needs of your livestock are met. 🌍💚

We believe in providing you with the best options for your animals, and that's why soybean meal is an essential component in our livestock feed.

If you have any questions or would like to learn more about our feed, don't hesitate to reach out to us. We are always here to assist you in making informed choices for your animals! 📞🤝
