May bahay pa ba silang mauuwian?

Yesterday, I napped twice.. but I also wrote a long-ass blog post on what I learned from 3 months of blogging.

I started my blog on June 23, 2020 and posted my first post on June 25. I've been blogging for 3 months now and it's honestly not as easy as I expected.

The past three months have taught me a great deal about data privacy, time and stress management, and self-discovery. In these months, I've posted 16 blog posts. With my initial goal of monetization, I find myself feeling bad about not meeting the goals I've set. And as an overachiever, it has always been like this even with other things (read the post to know more).

Now that I have busier days ahead, I think I'll also be blogging less, but will definitely still remind myself to use it as a way to destress and document life. In writing this post, I've come to accept that I'm human too and I can only handle a number of things at once. 🥺

Three months of blogging have been fun, but it also hasn't been easy. Here are three lessons I've learned throughout the process.

In a Harry Potter themed cafe in Maginhawa, QC, taken 2 or 3 years ago.

Taking this time to say that TRANS WOMEN ARE WOMEN. Yeah, f.u. J.K. Rowling for hiding behind feminism to advocate for transphobia.

I am still a potterhead at heart. In fact, I agree that now is the best time to re-read and re-watch the Harry Potter series. It teaches important values on love, acceptance, and standing for what's right.

However, could you really support a series that's created by someone who has stolen its comfort out of ignorance and bigotry?

If you're not informed about this issue, bottomline is that J.K.Rowling said that the idea of trans women are a threat to "actual women" who menstruate. She even tweeted about “TERF Wars” (TERF is an acronym for trans-exclusionary radical feminist). And just three days ago, she tweeted support for an anti-transgender online shop.

Here in Bite the Gram, we embrace social media as a powerful platform to share personal stories, inspire people, and urge movements.

But today I urge you to fight historical revisionism through your accounts.

Today marks the 48th anniversary of Martial Law. Marcos' tyrannical rule killed 3,240 individuals. Aside from this, 34,000 were tortured and 70,000 were imprisoned. Prisoners were tortured in unfathomable ways -- electrocuted, beaten up, strangled, and burned with flat irons or ci**rs. Women were r***d, and various objects were forced up into their ge****ls.

Been seeing a lot of posts and news commemorating Martial Law. Just a sinple scroll through the comments section of these posts yield a common toxic idea from keyboard warriors: "Bakit ba hindi kayo maka-move on?! Ang tagal tagal na niyan. 'Yan ang problema sa mga Pilipino eh."

To them we say, and

Classes have already started for most schools but some will just be starting in the coming weeks. Remote learning is hard. Ideally, we want a semester that’s conducive for learning; a semester where no one is left behind. As much as we want an academic freeze, this might also cause many teachers and people to lose their jobs. It might also cause a lag in the economy in the future. Still, we can’t be oblivious to the fact that online classes are harsher than good.

There are many factors that impair learning in this set-up, such as needing to do self-study for asynchronous classes, not having the devices needed, having no or poor internet connection, and still being threatened by Covid-19. I just hope the government 🙂 and academic units are doing their best for things to go back to normal.

Anyways, I’ll stop with the rant. Since we have no choice but to adjust to the new mode of learning, let’s just do the best we can to work with it. Here are my tips on how you can make your online learning experience better...

This school year will be a challenge, but following these tips could help you have a better learning experience for online classes!

I spent most of my time in Paris travelling around alone. As someone who loves taking photos, it was so hard to have personal pictures taken. What I would do is ask strangers to take photos for me. If the photo's not fit to my liking I ask another stranger to take a pic 😆.

Still, as a shy person, I'm quite anxious to ask strangers to take photos for me. Of course there's also that fear that they might run away with my phone or camera mid-"say cheese!" That's why I only have a handful of photos of me in Paris.

This pic in front of the Notre-Dame Cathedral is one of the handful taken by a lovely stranger. Salamat po sana masarap pagkain mo araw-araw 🤧.

Any tips on taking photos as a solo traveller? Not really fond of bringing bulky selfie sticks around.

🤙Funny story with this film pic.. This apartment is located in the street of my first home. Used to sneak in and play along the narrow and steep stairs with my cousin. I remember a vague memory that I actually fell and rolled down the stairs, hitting my head hard (or baka ibang building 'yun HAHA). My initial thought then wasn't on how much it hurts 👉😗👈 but on how mad my mom would be when she finds out 🤣.

Any similar childhood stories? 🤧

I've always been fond of observing people. That's why I took up sociology. 💙

Paris is quite a social city. There's always people grouped together, socializing, and enjoying their time. As a people watcher, i've always wondered what their conversations are about.. what interests them and what makes them feel emotions.

Here's a photo of a group of people enjoying the rare sunny weather in Pont Saint-Michel in Paris.

Pont Saint-Michel is a bridge linkining the Place Saint-Michel on one side of the river Seine to the Île de la Cité.

This day was just a few days before France's government announced a lockdown. People were still gathering together in big groups despite the continuous increase in the number of Covid cases.

Too bad it'll again be a long time till I'll be walking these streets again, but still super thankful that I got the chance to witness its beauty and its people.
