JOINT PUBLIC STATEMENT OF THE UNITED MAYORS OF MAGUINDANAO DEL NORTE

Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu!

We are issuing this joint public statement so that the public may know our collective official stand on the leadership issue of Maguindanao del Norte which to our belief is muddled by some quarters who are openly disrespecting and defying the authority of no less than the highest official of the country and sowing disunity and confusion among our people.

Firstly, we would like to express our wholehearted thanks once again to President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. for appointing former BARMM Senior Minister Abdulraof A. Macacua as Officer in Charge of the Province of Maguindanao del Norte even as we assure His Excellency of our full and unequivocal support to all the plans and programs of his administration for the country, most especially for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.

We, the nine (9) out of twelve (12) Mayors of Maguindanao del Norte and the Mayor of Cotabato City have decided to endorse Senior Minister Macacua as OIC Governor after a deep thought process and thorough consultations among our local leaders and constituents. Being a just and fair leader, we are confident that at this point, only OIC Governor Macacua can unite and heal the province.

There is no truth to the rumors being circulated by a few anti-peace and anti-development individuals that we were prodded to push for OIC Governor Macacua in exchange for favors. The accusation that we were given PhP 300-million each is a total lie. We have voluntarily come together and only informed OIC Governor Macacua after we have arrived at the final decision that we were going to endorse him to the Office of the President.

Amidst all the controversies and lies, WE ONLY RECOGNIZE OIC GOVERNOR ABDULRAOF A. MACACUA WHOSE APPOINTMENT WAS DULY SIGNED BY THE PRESIDENT AND WAS SWORN IN IN MALACAÑANG PALACE BY NO LESS THAN THE PRESIDENT HIMSELF.

This is a reaffirmation of our full and unwavering support to OIC Governor Abdulraof A. Macacua and our call for the people of Maguindanao del Norte to respect the decision of the President and unite for the sake of the province and the greater good of our people.
