Buong pusong ipinagmamalaki ng Mayors for Good Governance (M4GG) ang aming convenor na si Mayor Benjie Magalong sa pagkakamit ng prestihiyosong Bloomberg Philanthropies Awards for Global To***co Control 2025 sa Dublin, Ireland. Sa ilalim ng kanyang mahusay na pamumuno, kinilala ang Baguio LGU bilang isa sa anim na institusyon sa buong mundo na nagpamalas ng kahusayan sa to***co control.

Ang parangal na ito ay pagkilala sa mahigpit na pagpapatupad ng smoke-free at vape-free policies ng lungsod, sa epektibong paggamit ng data mula sa Global Youth at Adult To***co Surveys, at sa mga hakbang na nakabatay sa WHO MPOWER strategy. Pinatutunayan nito ang dedikasyon ni Mayor Magalong sa makabagong pamamahala, sa mga solusyong nakabatay sa ebidensya, at sa pangangalaga ng kalusugan ng mamamayan.

Together with city officials and department heads, the City Government conferred Vision Awards and tokens of gratitude to several distinguished leaders whose terms will officially end on June 30, 2025, at 5:00 PM:

Mayor Benjamin Magalong welcomed representatives from the Australian Embassy during a courtesy visit to the City Mayor’s Office. The meeting was an opportunity to strengthen ties between Baguio and Australia — highlighting shared values on good governance, sustainability, innovation, and inclusive development.

Discussions also touched on areas of potential collaboration in education, climate resilience, and community empowerment.

We thank the Australian Embassy for their continued friendship and interest in working with Baguio City in pursuit of a brighter and more inclusive future for all.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong delivered a powerful message during the 30th Annual Scientific Meeting of the CHEST Philippine Delegation last June 6, highlighting the urgent need for people-centered innovation in addressing today’s respiratory health challenges.

Speaking before a distinguished audience of medical experts, Mayor Magalong emphasized the importance of collaboration, compassion, and accountability in advancing healthcare systems. He shared Baguio City’s recent health initiatives, including a landmark partnership to strengthen liver cancer care. This exemplifies how local governance can drive inclusive and sustainable health solutions.

“Whether for lungs, liver, or any other aspect of public health, innovation must be people-centered and always anchored on truth, integrity, and accountability,” he said.

Mayor Magalong officially opened the John Hay Sports Pavilion on June 2 at the John Hay Convention Center. The launch featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, blessing and dedication, and exhibition games, including a basketball match with Mayor Magalong, Asi Taulava, and Jake Pascual.

The new facility, developed by DuckWorld PH, Dreamcourt, and The John Hay Hotels by Landco Lifestyle Ventures, features 4 USA Pickleball-certified courts and 3 FIBA 3x3 half courts, bringing world-class sports infrastructure to the heart of Camp John Hay.

LOOK: Mayor Benjamin Magalong Signs MOA for JobStart Philippines in Baguio City

On May 23, Mayor Benjie Magalong officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), through Dir. Imelda Romanillos and Bureau of Local Employment Dir. Patrick Patriwirawan, to implement the JobStart Philippines program in the Summer Capital.

This DOLE flagship program is designed to bridge the gap between education and employment for young Filipinos by providing life skills training, technical development, career guidance, and internships. It specifically targets youth aged 18–24 who are currently not in education, employment, or training.

With this partnership, the City Government of Baguio strengthens its commitment to improving youth employability and addressing job-skills mismatches through inclusive and practical workforce development.

Mayor Magalong thanked the DOLE for its continued support and emphasized the city’s dedication to preparing Baguio's young talents for a future of opportunities and productivity.

𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗻𝘀

Mayor Magalong participated in the Grand Ease of Doing Business (EODB) Fair on Sunday, May 25, at the University of the Philippines – Baguio. The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) Northern Luzon Regional Field Office organized the event. It showcased the government’s commitment to easing public service delivery through a one-stop shop for essential services and information.

Various national agencies (such as the CSC, DICT, NBI, PAO, GSIS, PAGIBIG, PSA, SSS, DA, DSWD, and DTI) set up booths to assist citizens with processes ranging from securing IDs and legal assistance to social services and livelihood support.

Mayor Magalong commended the initiative as a powerful demonstration of what responsive and citizen-centered governance should look like. He expressed appreciation for ARTA and its partner agencies for bringing much-needed services directly to the people, especially those who face challenges accessing them through traditional channels.

The fair reflects a shared goal: making public service more efficient, transparent, and within reach for every Filipino.
