WESTERN BLUE DEVIL

Paraplesiops meleagris

This brilliant deep blue fish is easily recognised by the iridescent blue spots densely covering the body and reaches a maximum size of 36 cm. Found from the Houtman Abrolhos, WA, to Port Phillip Bay, Vic the Western Blue Devil is one of the most spectacular residents of deeper crevices under larger rocky offshore reefs and drop-offs. Often occurring as solitary individuals, and tending to be slow swimmers making small loops from deep within crevices. Juveniles are a paler blue, and can be almost white. Adults often curious and unafraid of divers.

I know from conversations with a broad spectrum of people in my life that there is a lot of confusion around the upcoming referendum. We will be asked to vote on October 14th and in an age of too much information I don’t think lack of information is an excuse.

I’m not interested in swaying anyone to vote one way or another but I am compelled to try and connect people who want to understand where this question has come from with good information.

I implore you to do more than glance at the headlines, read political commentators articles or read comments on social media.

From what I have gathered in my very deliberate search for my own decision this isn’t a political question. This is a philosophical one. It is a question of reconciling the difficult aspects of Australia’s modern history with how we want to move into the future.

There have been versions of the voice that have had varying degrees of success and difficulty but the Voice being included in the constitution will mean it will have a longevity and consistency that previous attempts haven’t had.

Can’t believe that after all these years of trucks exisiting and my fascination and curiosity about them since my donga delivering days in the Pilbara, I finally got to go in a truck today. It just happened to be an EV! I feel like I’m in Back to the Future! If you’re wondering why all the truck stuff this week, it’s because Michael Ross and I are filling in on the Drive Home across the state on Triple M and everything you own, eat or wear (even the materials for your home) has been on a truck 😳 so we thought we’d go on a frothy learning truck session!

Humongous love and respect to CJ Walker, his family and ancestors today who are celebrating 10 years of his trailblazing company Ngurrangga Tours.
To begin with a solo tourism operation built on sheer determination in a mining dominated world in an area blinded to tourists, to what has become an iconic experience and an internationally celebrated operation. Sharing the knowledge and stories of of our ancient, magnificent country.
The amount I have learnt from this man has been a priceless treasure and the gift he gave me in connection to country will never be repaid. may your star continue to shine bright and be a path for others looking to learn and love this place.

got me feeling my sassy side.
For my whole life radio playlists have been either my parents music or kids music. Even though I was just filling in today in Perth I got to present a music playlist that was all mine. The Living End, Spacey Jane, Metallica, Eminem, Blink 182, Placebo, The Screaming Jets, 2Pac. It’s a WILD ride and I very much enjoyed it. I’ll be back doing Breakfast on Triple M South West tomorrow which is always a wild ride but for other reasons ✌🏽Happy WA Day

It was an all star cast on the reef today. To be in the midst of schooling salmon, to be checked out by a couple of grey nurses and to just be there was my kind of A list material.

You wouldn’t believe me if I told you the end of the dive was met with a MASSIVE smooth ray barrelling towards us AND a pod of dolphins finishing off the salmon ball 🦈 🐬

Life can go from picture 1 to picture 2 for me in half a heartbeat and as I get older I’m enjoying reflecting a little more on it all.

Sometimes, it makes me a s**t friend who misses birthdays or doesn’t call for a long time.

Sometimes, I feel like I’m not good enough/ a fraud/ doing the wrong job.

Sometimes, I just wish I could scuba dive every day.

But all the mistakes, all the doubt, all the worry, that’s the s**t that also makes you feel alive. Where you’re uncomfortable, when your growing, when your vulnerable. That’s the bit that teaches you, where you’re learning about yourself and the world around you.

If the friend is a good egg, they’ll understand and call you too.

You should question if you’re in the right job, checking in is good.

Scuba diving is always good and I should do it everyday 😂 (gotta have goals right?)

I was at a funeral today and it was wonderful. Celebrating a life well lived, talk of jazz, music and jokes.

I guess just a reminder to myself and anyone who needs it today- sometimes you’re paddling and sometimes your catching waves but you’re always in the ocean 🌊
