WHEN I AM OLD

When I am old...
I will wear soft gray sweatshirts...
and a bandana over my silver hair...
and I will spend my social security checks on my dogs.

I will sit in my house on my well-worn chair
and listen to my dogs breathing.
I will sneak out in the middle of a warm summer night
and take my dogs for a run, if my old bones will allow...

When people come to call, I will smile and nod
as I show them my dogs...
and talk of them and about them...
...the ones so beloved of the past
and the ones so beloved of today...

I will still work hard cleaning after them,
mopping and feeding them and whispering their names
in a soft loving way.
I will wear the gleaming sweat on my throat,
like a jewel, and I will be an embarrassment to all...
especially my family...
who have not yet found the peace in being free
to have dogs as your best friends...

These friends who always wait, at any hour, for your footfall...
and eagerly jump to their feet out of a sound sleep,
to greet you as if you are a God,
with warm eyes full of adoring love and hope
that you will always stay,

I'll hug their big strong necks...
I'll kiss their dear sweet heads...
and whisper in their very special company....

I look in the mirror... and see I am getting old....
this is the kind of person I am...
and have always been.

Loving dogs is easy, they are part of me.

Please accept me for who I am.
My dogs appreciate my presence in their lives...
they love my presence in their lives...

When I am old this will be important to me...
you will understand when you are old,
if you have dogs to love too.

"I lay down at the beach and look down at my body. I see the changes. I see stretch marks on my stomach, I see wrinkles at my breasts. Sometimes the changes can be hard to look at, some days even I feel bad
But then... I looked PAST my body. Do you see the boy running there? That's Liam. The boy I made, the baby that was in MY stomach. The baby that my breast’s magical produced milk for so he could survive on just me.
How amazing is that? Sometimes you have to look at the BIGGER PICTURE, just like in this one. So you can remind your mindset to tell you how incredibly amazing you are, and how proud you should be of it.
We all did an amazing job, marks or not."

My son has down syndrome and our dog is deaf. Every morning when he wakes up he always gives our dog a kiss and he sits and waits to reciprocate!!! They have created a unique relationship and I feel like a proud mom!
My kids have no problem. Those who think that we don't kiss, touch and feed animals when they are hungry have a problem!!!!!! We are normal and we want a better society for animals!!!!

1yr ago my wife Leah was fighting for her life having a major operating to have a tumor removed from her brain ! Leah’s tumors were results of having This photo was taken of Leah 20min after waking up in intensive care & still managed to throw up a ✌️with a cheeky grin. If Leah thought me one thing it was to always see the best in bad situations & to be positive. I owe everything I am today to my wife Leah, I could never repay Leah for what she has done for me. So my positive out of this negative is to say thank you Leah for being you. Happy birthday turbo 6yr young ! Your my best mate ! The strength & happiness you bring me could never be measured ✌️❤️BLT⚡️

The 30th December 1952 seemed like an ordinary day for bus driver Albert Gunter. He was a driver on the bus route 78 which passed across Tower Bridge. Tower Bridge had been built between 1886 and 1894, crossing the River Thames in London, and it was designed to split into two sections which would raise when large boats needed to pass under. By the time that Albert was driving his bus on that fateful day, Tower Bridge had been raised around 300,000 times previously.There was a series of systems designed to hold traffic back prior to the bridge raising – a gateman would ring a warning bell and close the gates, and when the bridge was clear a watchman would order the bridge to be raised. However, human error meant that as Albert and his bus full of passengers approached the bridge, the light was green for a safe crossing.As Albert crossed the bridge, suddenly the road seemed to drop away in front of him, and he realised that the bridge was raising with them on it. With no other option, Albert astutely and bravely moved down two gears, slammed on the accelerator, and jumped the 3-6 foot gap across the water below, landing on the lower piece of road on the other side which was slower to rise. Amazingly, out of 20 passengers, no one was seriously injured. The bus conductor broke his leg, and an 11 year old boy fractured his collarbone, but the other passengers were released after a precautionary hospital visit.
