The Catalan club have been plotting a plan to re-sign the Argentine, who joined Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent in 2021. Messi’s current contract in Paris is set to expire next summer and Laporta wants the club legend to retire “wearing the Barcelona shirt”. However, Marca report that Barca are growing impatient and are willing to move for Messi as early as January as they “do not want to wait until the summer”.

The filmmaker said, “I’ve been working on Aníkúlápó for six years. Originally, I wanted to make a series, but I shopped it and kept telling people that this movie would be bigger than Game of Thrones.
Eventually, Netflix told me to make a movie first since I believed in the project that much, and if it becomes a success, we’d develop a series.”

‘Anikulapo’, set in the 17th century ancient Oyo kingdom, premiered on Netflix on September 30, 2022.

A week after its premiere, the movie became the most-watched non-English film on Netflix, with a cumulative 8.7m streaming hours.

“Right now, Netflix is the one urging me to start making the series. I knew we made a great film and that it’d start conversations, but I didn’t know it’d do as well as it has done,” Afolayan said.

Recall that CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, made the announcement on Wednesday.

However, the group’s spokesman, Abdulsalam Kazeem, in a statement on Wednesday, in Kaduna, faulted the decision, adding that redesigning the said naira notes will only cost the nation huge sums of money at the expense of taxpayers.

He said, “This is coming at a period when we are borrowing to fund significant parts of our annual budget and another significant part of the borrowing goes to debt servicing, and yet the only solution the apex bank could offer is to redesign our currency.” He said

“We are concerned as representatives of our people and region. If we may ask: will the new design make our currency gain value at the exchange rate market? Will it add value to the standard of living of the citizenry of our region and the nation at large? These are some questions begging for immediate answers.

“To set the record straight, look at the current exchange rate of a Naira to a dollar or pounds and you will agree with us that our currency has lost its value completely and what we need now are serious economic policies that will strengthen our Naira against dollar and pounds and anything short of this is unacceptable by us. Because we believe this would inflict more against the value of our revered naira.

“The decision to redesign the Naira is obviously to empower certain individuals, consultants, or contractors who are desperate to make something before the end of the current administration, he said

AUTHORITIES of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Friday slammed a visa ban on Nigerians seeking to visit Dubai. In a notice issued to its trade partners in Nigeria which include travel agents, the Dubai authorities declared that “all Dubai applications submitted are now rejected”. 

According to the notice, the authorities added that the rejections will be sent in batches. The rejections, the Dubai authorities said “are general for Nigerians and approvals are on hold at the moment.” 

The rejections are said to be the latest decision made by the UAE Immigration authorities on their engagement with Nigerians. 
No reason was given for the drastic measure taken by the UAE.
