When Pimp C got the call that Jay-Z wanted UGK to be featured on "Big Pimpin'", he wasn’t feeling it. There have been a number of reasons going around in the media as to why Pimp C didn’t want to do the verse.
In a 2018 BET documentary called I Talked To Pimp C, rapper Too Short said that Pimp C did not want to do the song out of loyalty to Tupac. Apparently a rule for Pimp C was, “I’m not f***ing with nobody that didn’t f**k with Tupac.”
Jay-Z‘s feud with the late Tupac Shakur began after he joined forces with The Notorious B.I.G on ‘Brooklyn’s Finest’, it has been claimed.
Pimp C was so big on his loyalty and not fooling with Jay-Z that after agreeing to do the verse, he still did not want to link up with Jay-Z. While Bun B flew out to record the video with Jay-Z, Pimp C stayed behind. Pimp C eventually agreed to film for the video, but separately. You can see Pimp C in the video, but not with Jay-Z and Bun B.
Jay-Z and Pimp C eventually got an understanding and became good friends. "Big Pimpin’" eventually became one of hip-hop’s biggest collaborations.
