"Who You Talk'in To?"
If you have been in education for ANY length of time, you have probably encountered an irate parent, rude student, or even inappropriate speech from colleagues. When enduring these types of conversations in large volume, it can become taxing. Why do parents feel they can speak to educators any way they choose? Why do districts support this type of behavior from our parents? Even among colleagues, is it o.k. for an adult to raise their voice at another adult? How do you remain professional in these situations? Find out Tuesday! Join in and weigh in!
See you Tuesday night!
It's Not the Pig Feet! It's the Job!!!
It is not uncommon for educators to experience at least one health scare during their tenure. Health issues range from colds you can't get rid of to high blood pressure and heart issues. We often only discuss the health issue, but rarely discuss the root cause. Could it be that it's not just what we eat? Is it possible that our body is trying to communicate an unhealthy work ethic that needs to be changed?
What are you thoughts?
Tune in tonight and weigh in! We want to hear your thoughts!

You Ain't That Special: The Web of Special Education in Public Schools

"Sorry. I'm Not Sorry." - The State of Teacher Quality
The #education profession has significantly suffered from an decrease in the number of #teachers available for our students. However, is it that we have a shortage of teachers, or a shortage of QUALITY teachers? There is a difference.
But what is a quality teacher? How do we attract them? How do we KEEP them? Are low quality teachers riding the coat tails of quality teachers who are actually putting in the work? What does "putting in the work" mean? Is there a difference between a substitute and a low quality teacher?
Join the conversation! Share your thoughts with us Thursday @ 6:00 p.m.
S.E.L. (Social Emotional Learning): "Is this really a thing?"
What happened to having compassion for people just because it was the right thing to do? What happened to being considerate of other people's feelings, and being courteous? What happened to "do unto others the way you would have them do unto you?" What happened to JUST BEING NICE IN THE WORK PLACE?
Aren't all these descriptions components of S.E.L.? If so, why did we create an entire #curriculum and multiple workshops just to #teach #educators to be nice? Is S.E.L. really a thing, or did we just create another acronym for traits that should be common societal norms? Do we need all this, or do we need better parents for children growing up now, and more therapist for the adults that never learned these societal norms?
