When nothing seems to go right, sometimes the best solution is to go left. 🌟 Think Out of the Box 2023 is a celebration of the courage it takes to step beyond conventional thinking and embrace creativity that knows no bounds. Instead of merely thinking outside the box, let’s get rid of the box altogether and create something completely new.

This 80x100cm acrylic painting on canvas challenges us to embrace asymmetry and the beauty of imperfections, coloring outside the lines to form an entirely new picture. Every stroke represents the freeing act of letting go of certainties and embracing the unknown.

✨ Art Details:

Size: 80x100cm
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
Bold, expressive abstraction
Celebrate the courage to color outside the lines with this dynamic and thought-provoking work.

"The woman with the red scarf sits gracefully on a log swing, her figure silhouetted against the tranquil backdrop of shimmering lake. As the swing arcs gently back and forth, she seems to escape the noise of the world, embracing the soft caress of the breeze.

The vibrant red scarf billows slightly, adding a touch of warmth to the serene scene. Surrounded by nature’s beauty, she finds solace in the quiet rustling of the water, immersing herself in a rare moment of peace and reflection. "

Standing Upright, by Eyayu Genet Sh*tu, An intricate fusion of traditional and contemporary Ethiopian aesthetics. The central figure, depicted with symbolic motifs and a regal posture, embodies strength, resilience, and spiritual connection. The use of bold geometric patterns, vibrant colors, and layered textures speaks to a cultural narrative enriched with historical depth and modern abstraction.

The upward-reaching arches and the celestial elements above the figure suggest a spiritual ascension or divine alignment, while the surrounding details — from architectural forms to symbolic vessels — hint at communal life and cultural identity. “Standing Upright” represents the enduring spirit of heritage and the harmonious interplay of tradition, faith, and modern artistic exploration. This piece exudes cultural pride and a contemplative reflection on identity and resilience.

‘Apathy’ by Sophie Green features a snow leopard, its piercing gaze fixed directly on the viewer. The animal’s expression, hauntingly devoid of emotion, reflects humanity’s indifferent exploitation of nature. The stark contrast between the majestic predator and the stark white environment it sits in underscores the consequences of the commodification of nature.

The snow leopard’s unyielding and judgmental stare holds a mirror to our own inaction, demanding self-reflection.

"Following my retirement as a public servant five years ago, I decided to paint full time. As an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists, I find inspiration for my watercolours in quiet corners, capturing objects with cultural and historical significance. In a world overflowing with fleeting trends and disposable goods, my work is a way to preserve the beauty and stories of heritage items through hyper-realistic detail.

During the pandemic, I began painting family heirlooms that people no longer wanted to keep. Using numerous layers of different colours, I aim to bring out the reflections, textures, and unique characteristics of these objects, highlighting the passage of time and its effects on material things.
