Happy Thanks Giving Week! I hope you have a lot to be thankful for like we do! This weeks episode (dropping at 5 pm CST) talks about everyone's favorite subject, Food! We are also saying farewell to this hobby of ours. It has been a great year but is becoming difficulty to maintain and grow a community when we can't put full effort into it. Good Morning! hope you have enjoyed the newest podcast over sport specialization. That is a big issue that must be carefully directed. However, what about ones own fitness? Ever heard: “I am just a runner. Not a lifter.” Or “ I only run if I am being chased.” those are some pretty common phrase across social circles. Including medical fields. But isn’t that fitness specialization. ABSOLUTELY! Doing a singular style of training will cause physical detriment in other areas. Runners will present with great cardiovascular stamina, but will struggle to have the strength for repeated activities. Lifters will have the strength but lack endurance and will always be battling figure secondary to watching Calories. There are some styles of training that will hit both: CrossFit, HIT training. However it is very difficult to get into these high intensity training settings safely, and they are well known for their injury rate. So maybe your goal is to be fit in both but you don’t know where to start. I would suggest that jumping into a HIT training class is not where you should start. I would consider creating a seasonal Transitional workout habit. For a simplicity lifting in the summer and running in fall and winter (yes running in a winter activity at least here in the Southern United States). While not quitting the other 100%, but merely reducing the frequency to focus on the other aspect of fitness. This will allow you to learn more about your body. Then as you become more conditioned with both you will be able to transition into something that is more HIT focus, and you have built your body up to endure the aggressive nature of that style of training.

How can the perspective of Christ give you energy/rest?

I have posted about energy in the past season here on MannaFit Podcast. While I still believe that the premise is true that you need to view how much energy you exerting towards what part of your day. It does not address the stress, anxiety, and restlessness of tomorrow. When you are in this time of life each day feels like a stressful dark cloud over head waiting to just dump on you. This doesn't just affect that day it effect the days before and after. If you recall back to school and you had a presentation to give in front of the class. That is generally a stressful event. Not to mention the teach tries to be kind and offers that question "who would like to go first?". Alway dreaded that question cause it placed the pressure back on me to dictate when I confronted the stress. However, that experience never was just confined to the 45 minute duration of that class. I would be stressed the night before making sure that the project was ready. I wouldn't sleep that great. Then, after the presentation I would wonder what my grade was. Not to mention, I was tired from stressing myself out from the day and the night before. Then I would go to bed exhausted. Surely, God does not want us to experience situations like that!

Matthew 6: 34 "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

So take a breath and know that tomorrow/whatever stressful is in Gods hands, and he has already planned it out. So back to energy! If you're in a storm do not go to bed or leave your house without casting your troubles on the Lord of Lords because Tomorrow has already been decided. Then you will find rest. The rain will sting a little less, and you will be able to see tomorrow and know that you were never alone. This is the one of the greatest energy conservation tactics you could ever employ for yourself, your family, and your future. As always may God Bless you, and keep you. May God shine his face upon you.

Welcome to Wednesday! Half way through the week! I am grateful to have the opportunity to speak about some practical ways to have a growth mindset while focused on your faith. No I am not going to say go to church, read your bible, and pray. Although you really should do those things. They are pretty powerful when it comes to spiritual growth. No I am going to speak on a different kind growth, but FIRST recognize that you will not be perfect and give yourself grace amongst the failures that may happen.

Living spiritually is all about relationships. You have a relationship with the all mighty father Yahweh, God, Jesus Christ, and the Holly Spirit. You have relationships with friends, families, strangers, and neighbors. Yet to have a blossoming relationship you must be quick to listen. I don't mean to ask someone to pour out their life story, or expose their life long skeletons. Although that may happen unintentionally. I mean to check in with those that are around you with genuine concern. Not to be a nosy Nelly (sorry if your name is Nelly), but to be able to connect with and to encourage. Everyone deserves to be lifted up, and you can't be the light to the world or the salt of the earth (Matthew 5: 13-16) if you don't first foster relationships. You don't have to go far. Just start with who is around you. A wise surgeon spoke to me and told me: No one cares about what you know or how you can help, until they know that you care about them. So check-in and listen, and be ready because God will open a door for you to offer encouragement.
