Happy Saturday!! What gorgeous weather we are having today!! ☀️
I am feeling great after a 8km walk to Crystal Palace Park today. It is so good to be getting out of the house during daylight, after shielding for so long. It certainly makes a change from the evening walks. 🧛♀️
It is so nice to feel part of the world again and also get a proper dose of sunshine. Not only for the Vit D levels but also to help the serotonin levels.
Serotonin is one of the hormones linked to happiness and mood and without enough sun exposure, your serotonin levels can dip. The photoreceptors in your eyes react to the sunlight by sending messages to parts of your brain that regulate your body's serotonin levels.
Serotonin impacts many parts of your body. It’s the chemical that helps with sleeping, eating, and digesting.
Besides exposure to bright light (sunlight or light therapy), exercise, a healthy diet (including foods such as eggs, cheese, turkey, nuts, salmon, tofu, and pineapple) and meditation are all ways to help boost serotonin levels.
